Republican's bin Laden Ad Sparks Furor (also, vote in poll)
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 12:52 PM by Quixote1818

WASHINGTON (Oct. 21) - Republicans unveiled an advertisement on Friday featuring the image and words of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and a warning to voters that "these are the stakes" in the November 7 election.

The Republican National Committee ad, first shown on its Web site and scheduled for airing on cable television early next week, also includes images of al Qaeda fighters in training and other al Qaeda leaders.

"What is yet to come will be even greater," the ad quotes bin Laden as saying, before concluding with the words: "These are the stakes. Vote November 7."

President George W. Bush's Republicans, slipping in the polls from public dissatisfaction with the Iraq war, are fighting to retain control of Congress in the election. Democrats must pick up 15 House seats and six Senate seats to win a majority in each chamber.

Will the new GOP ad make you more or less likely to vote for Republicans?

More?
Less?
Is there such a thing as "Less likely than not a chance in hell"?

3. I heard on NBC new that to some, "These are the stakes" rang a bell.
It is the exact same phrase that was used in the famous "daisy petal" ad that Johnson used against Goldwater in 1964 with the little girl pulling the petals off the daisy as there was a nuclear countdown. It was meant to provoke a fear response, and so is this one. NBC news said the Republicans had only bought $20,000 of air time because they hoped they would get free coverage from the news and networks. Looks like it worked.

4. Well, with 67% disapproval, I hope they make more of these ads…
What are the chances this ad will never air on television?

7. Quite frankly when you put Osama on the screen...
people start wondering just where the hell he is, and why he isn't dead or behind bars.

9. Thank you very much for expressing exactly what I believe (and a lot
of people that I talk to).

All the repubs are doing is reminding them of the incompetence of the bush** administration in catching their main boogey man. They just can't break that No. 2 barrier.

Not another devastating fluffy puppy ad!

Can you say, 'Out of touch with reality?'
I knew that you could...

12. Hundred dollars to a stick of gum that they're
trying to get them to make another tape that they can say is from Bin Laden just like they did in 2004.

Or, they are laying the stage to fabricate one of their own.

I'd bet my car on it. Maybe more than that.

They're scum.
