Pelosi's magic potion to cure "rule by signing statement". . .
. . .doesn't seem to exist in her "100 hour" plan or any plan.

If you have a solution that does not include impeachment, please to post it here.

If not, please recommend/kick this post so we can get them to see it in DC.

Be honest now, either solve this or recommend.

2. The solution depends on the issue in the signing statement.
Bush claims he doesn't have to give Congress information on the cost of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as required in a bill he signed.

Congress could bring the issue to a court if Bush doesn't provide the information they're looking for.

3. I would be skeptical of any "magic potion" for anything
Probably would take a Constitutional Amendment which defines "a signing statement which contradicts the legislation being signed" as a violation of the President's Oath of Office and an impeachable offense. But I am not sure if the public is that upset about it. The Government has been doing things like this for ages. For example, passing laws that prohibit slave trade, but then not authorizing any money to enforce those laws.

4. One that does not include impeachment?
I'm not sure there is any such solution. That seems to be the only safeguard against executive tyranny that the founders put in the Constitution. I'm not sure they foresaw the problem of such a gutless Congress.

5. k&r -- not even courts will help
Because it's all just "words on a page" to these neofascists.

They just blather on with phrases like "close reading" and "reinterpret" to do as they please.

It's impeach or comply/abet/enable.
