"Making them LAME DUCKS is good enough for me." - Nancy Pelosi
Me too, Madame Speaker!

With the delicious hint of emasculation, that was a brilliant statement. Lame duck those motherfuckers.

1. I've never seen the RW so scared in all my life.
You would think Pelosi and Hillary were going to team up and run in 2008. I hear them crying daily about how scared they are of Pelosi. All I can do is shake my head and laugh at them. Which I do, frequently.

36. There's one other time the Republicans were this flipped out. It was 1999
They were frantically trying to undo an election. They were desparate to try and impeach Clinton. When they did, it was by the barest of margins, almost a straight partyline vote. In the scramble to destroy Clinton, they lost two speakers in one week. Other members were ruined, shamed. The emotional torment in DC was appalling. And the country's attention was turned away from the real growing danger of Islamic terrorism. If only the could get Clinton, it'd be worth it.

Somehow they thought they had him--hoping they could pull enough Senate Democrats over to vote for removal after the impeachment. But no Democrats could see the case; they and the American public thought the Republicans had gone nuts. Clinton's approval ratings stayed in the 60s for the rest of his term. Our Republican friends often get worked up into crazed fixations. They let the politics become entirely about the game, the competition, the drive to win at all costs, and lose sight of the real object of government... to provide a safe and prosperous homeland for all the taxpayers.

They'll get worked up into dither again in another 2 years. Given a chance to govern, they failed and failed miserably. Their panic is the panic of a liar getting caught, of a child whose old excuses aren't fooling their parents anymore. It's not pretty. But it happens fairly often with this crew.

The Republicans won't wait 2 years to get worked into a lather, though. If the Dems retake the House or Senate, I expect we'll see the media suddenly take out their penned-up frustrations from the previous 6+ years on whatever Democrats they can.

Round them up, prosecue them, jail them, for life, with Bubba.

11. She needs to quit cutting out possibilities she needn't run on impeachment
but she needn't cut-off its possibility either.

Better would be if she'd simply say as speaker she would restore oversight and re-establish the balance of power between co-equal branches of government that the founders seemed to intend.

Pursuit of those things is completely justifiable, but rather than taking things off the table it leaves them as traditionally have been--ready to use if circumstance demands them.

A failure to imprison war criminals is a stain on this nation that will endure far longer than anyone alive. Until and unless they're imprisoned for their war crimes, we are ALL complicit - a nation of war criminals without honor and without integrity.

45. Rather than jumping for the "we will not impeach" bail-out ....
... I wish the Democrats would simply state that impeachment isn't an issue. However, basic constitutionally-mandated oversight *will* be brought back to Congress, and we'll put a stop to the waste and whatever other corruption have proliferated under the Rubber Stamp Republican Congress.

(This stresses a return to much-needed oversight, and doesn't take impeachment off the table.)

Son turned to me and said "hit piece." So the Democrats are not civil and are partisan. At least when she says Bush is incompetent, it is a true statement. And the Thugees are immoral, and criminal. They own all branches of government, and they're still going to jail.

Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 06:56 PM by jg82567
I think the majority of the Ameican people want this administration held accountable, I think they want something done about this war and the price we are paying at home and abroad in blood and money and credibility as a nation. And, if the pledge is to the Republicans, why are we making promises to them about OUR agenda? If we win, they won't be in any position to demand anything of us and we need to give them a little dose of their own medicine because they will do it again the minute they get a chance.

it will be so unfortunate, not what she wanted to "waste her time on", BUT....the repukes have left her NO CHOICE but to Impeach. She took an oath to uphold the "rule of law".... IMCPO, that's how this is going to play out.

She just doesn't want to give the repukes any new fodder before the election. That would be ALL they talk about if Pelosi said she was going to Impeach. The RW religious wacko nut jobs would show up in droves if they thought their DEAR LEADER was going to pay for his crimes.

Stay tuned. Pelosi has plans.

42. That's pretty much what I've been thinking.
As far as I can see, there's no upside politically to announcing plans to impeach.

Announcing an intent to impeach won't gain the Dems any votes (anyone who's pro-impeachment is already planning to vote Democratic) but it may cost them votes from some DINOs and moderate Dems who believe "it would be bad for the country".

may cost votes or energize the Republican base.

That said, I obviously have no idea what's really on her mind. I'm just saying that, IMHO, it would make perfect sense to deny it even if she has other plans.

head just yet. A lot can happen between now and November 7th. Rove is not going down without a (dirty) fight, nor is Diebold. Also don't forget that the verdict in Saddam's trial is to be announced exactly 48 hours before the US elections. Coincidence? I think not. If the verdict is "hang him" or "firing squad", a lot of votes will go right back to the Repubs.

with her entire interview.

screw "having the time to do it".

if justice is not served for what they have done to this country, they will have gotten away with it, and will do it again as soon as they can. it may take them another 30 years, but you can bet they will start planning on it the day after the election.

they have to be taught that this crap will NEVER be tolerated again.

ever.
