In 1976 Donald Rumsfeld as part of a propoganda team set up to sell the Soviet threat to the US stood up before reporters and told the world about a secret Soviet Missile program that threatened the US. It's referred to his "busy speech" where he reiterates that the Soviets are busy building weapons while the US sleeps.

Every single claim he made in this speech was shown to be false years later when it was found that no secret missile program ever existed. Then he used this same fear mongering strategy to claim that Al Qaeda had these massive underground bunkers at Tora Bora in Afghanistan. In the link below you can view him stating the claim about Tora Bora on Meet the Press. Russert has maps witht he details of the bunkers and he asks Rumsfeld about them: "Are they there?" Rumsfeld with that toothy grin: "You Bet!"

IN both cases large defense spending measures resulted and the Military INdustrial complex grew. IN both cases Rumsfeld LIED!!

This corrupt son-of-a-bitch needs to be put on trial for war crimes.
