I don't think her novel and whether or not it contains Lesbian, porno, rape, or other scenes is relevant. I wouldn't have brought it up at all if I had been in Webb's shoes. Instead, I would have talked about my own expertise on Vietnam, the fact I won the Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts leading a platoon in Vietnam, the fact that I married a Vietnamese woman and speak fluent Vietnamese and that my book had images of true cultural practices that I know to exist. If I were Webb, I would welcome the focus of the campaign on my novels about war and my war experiences and I would turn it into a positive.
