Hear (read) this and heed it well. November 8th will be more significant
than 9/11/01.

Why? Because no matter what purported 'results' will have been reported from yesterday's elections,
a huge percentage of Murkins (Whoever 'loses') will allege FRAUD. Some of them will be right, others
won't but either way thousands of lawyers are even now salivating. I could be wrong and I hope so,
but I don't see how it can be averted.

1. A Democratic landslide would avert it
And the polls would validate it.

GOTV!

2. Perhaps but remember this is not a national election.
There is not going to be anything like a 'landslide'...most of the races are close (yes, I know that
might not be totally accurate but it is the PERCEPTION that most people have - don't forget DUers
aren't representative of the typical Joe Sixpack)

Nothing would please me more than being wrong about this.

6. I think it -is- a national election, just not for the Presidency
Maybe I am being naive, but, even though I really have been cautiously optimistic this time, I keep getting the feeling that someting amazing is going to happen.

It could be that we are all looking at this with hyper-cynical eyes because of what we experienced last time. Maybe, just maybe, the American voters are being greatly underestimated and on Nov. 7 they will vote Democratic in record numbers.

Just sayin'

7. Yeah, it is national in the broad political sense but the races are
essentially local. What I mean is that we have to win 40 or 50 elections instead of just one.
Not many people are more cynical than I am, though...and so I can just hope you're right!
:-)

3. Just as in a boxing match where the judges are suspect
you eliminate the problem by winning by a knockout. Otherwise, you run up the score so high that it is not even close. When you have them down, keep them down, and pile it on.

4. My rant, from 10-20. Pretty much saying the same thing. Total chaos.

(on edit: forgive the surfing metaphors...they're meant to go with the cartoon)

10.20.06 - A TSUNAMI OF E-VOTING CHAOS is fast approaching. We've drifted into the impact zone, so focused on the welling horizon, so certain we're going to ride the bomb full in for the prize and go home with the sponsor's hot swimsuit model, that we don't even realize how potentially fucked we are. And nothing could make the boys at BushCo happier. While many Democrats are bobbing about, floating on the tide of favorable poll numbers for our side, waiting to ride the perfect wave of voter discontent and desire for change, the efforts of the GOP to maintain their grip on power continue unabated. In fact, you can probably bet they're only intensifying.

We need to be ready. Because instead of a perfect barrel breaking straight down the line, this is going to be a sudden cloudbreak that comes out of nowhere and turns us upside down and holds us under and drags our faces across the reef. The dark forces whose slimy tentacles extend into and out of Karl Rove's lair know the numbers simply aren't there for them. Pulling off a credible "victory," if such a thing is possible, will involve far more than just flipping some 1s and 0s for Bush. They'll be relying a lot more on good old-fashioned voter disenfranchisement and their new ace in the hole, the courts. Because of the myriad problems which will inevitably occur as precincts from sea to shining sea experience their first digital touch-screen elections, races all over the map will be left hanging, with no remedy to challenge an outcome other than the courts. And we all know how well it all worked out the last time we got a court appointed leader. Other races will be left uncertified, or worse -- certified despite clear challenges, as happened with stunning extra-Constitutional ramifications in the Busby-Bilbray contest in California.

(Continued, with cartoon, here)

5. This is the most wonderful thing to have happen, imaginable.
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 08:35 PM by EST
We have spent years and tears of powerless frustration attempting to get the attention of law enforcement, election referees, candidates, SoSs, etc, on and on, ad nauseum.

Now, with all the screaming that will be going on because of so many contentious races, nobody is going to be happy and our suspended animation republican brethren will be of enormous value, wittingly or no.

All the back room deals, under the table deals, private handshake, wink and nod scurrilous double dealing garbage are going to be unearthed while the Diebold diehards are going to be busier digging up and covering up than the three cats that ate the ex-lax.

I predict that the shit is gonna hit the biggest dang fan ever seen, we shall be proven more that foil addicts, although nobody's going to notice.

A lot of people are going to be giving themselves self-congratulatory handshakes while hopping on TV to proclaim to the world about how they knew it all the time and have been working undercover to expose the humongous fraud.

It's OK if the self-important assholes take credit as long as the country is rescued.

I am so excited. BRING IT ON! Come on, election day!
