Duncan Hunter's running for President

Rep. Hunter Exploring Presidential Run

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/29/AR2006102900535.html

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., plans to announce Monday that he's considering a presidential run in 2008, according to a Republican official.

Hunter is the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee _ a position he would lose if Democrats take control of the House after the Nov. 7 election.

Hunter spokesman Joe Kasper would not comment on Hunter's plans, other than to say that he would be holding a press conference on the waterfront in San Diego at 2 p.m. EST Monday regarding electoral plans for 2008.

Hunter told Fox News Channel Sunday, "I'm going to make an announcement about a national campaign in '08." He didn't elaborate, other than to say it would be made from the waterfront "where I started my humble career in 1980."

Is that all they've got?

3. I know this sounds petty and childish and shallow ...
but I can't imagine having a president named "Duncan." No offense intended. There's nothing wrong with the name - I actually like it - but whenever I hear it, I can't helping thinking of donuts! :P

5. Good. That'll open up his house seat for us to take
and then he an Tom Tancredo will split the anti-immigrant vote in the primary.

No one has been elected president from the House since James Garfield in 1880.

7. He's Already Working On Campaigning While In Jail
Hopefully they'll feed him that same lemon chicken that was the taste sensation at Gitmo.

This dude better watch out for the DA in San Diego and the Union-Tribune...there's plenty of dirt already on Hunter in the MZB/Wade mess that's just waiting behind a couple others to move to the top. Yeah, he better get that announcement out and early, cause he may not make it to the primaries.

Isn't it interesting that this asshat is announcing BEFORE the election...pulling away coverage from ugly things like Iraq and the economy. He'll also try to run on the back of the Mexicans...tyring to be the first "anti-immigration" candidate...setting the stage for some headaches for McCain.

I won't even contemplate this POS ever making it into a general election, but he'll provide plenty of amusement as he helps further fracture the GOOP. Run Hunter Run...

9. Wow - I would totally cross party-lines to vote for Hunter!
And I know there are a lot of liberals who feel the same way. Hear that, Republicans? Hunter would be a super-strong candidate; you should totally nominate him. I'm series!

11. I forgot he was the "two types of fruit" guy.
What a dilemma. A complete nut vs. John McCave and the Undertaker.

Sounds like the WWF.

12. He's running for a cabinet position

One more indication that most republicans in the know realize they're gonna get their collective butts kicked next week. He knows when the Dems take over he's gonna lose his powerful position, and it ain't gonna be any fun being relegated to the basement. So he'll get himself some national publicity, drop out early on, endorse the front runner (probably McCain) thereby putting himself in line for a cabinet position, should the repug win. I'm sure he sees himself as a natual for Secretary of Defense, given he has been the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.
