What Mark Halpern of ABC news said today
"Conservatives under George W. Bush," Halperin said, "have basically said to Hollywood liberals, 'We're calling you out. No more free ride. You come after us, we're coming after you." So Mark Halpern did not say "We aren't going to give you a free ride anymore"

Mark Halpern reported what they said and seeing transposed against a shaking MJ Fox makes the GOP look like even bigger bullies, thats what i saw and heard, maybe you had a different take on it. I understand what Halpern has said in recent days about telling conservatives that they will get better press but i think in this instance they looked worse. Does that mean ABC sucks less, of course not. Flame away.

1. How is "No more free ride" not like
"We aren't going to give you a free ride anymore"??

And if anybody has been getting a 'free ride' it's the repukes and chimpy.

3. Conservatives will keep Dixie Chicking anyone that speaks out
and yes Bush has gotten a pass since about day 1 and the media should be held as co-conspirators if Bush ever goes to the Hague.

6. Exactly, his words said while a pick of Fox was running, they looked so bad
worse than usual. Remember those words Toby Keith, they'll apply to you when we have a democratic president.

4. WHY is it that everyone can have a political opinion ...
Except for actors and other artists ? ...

Tim Robbins, Michael Fox and EVERY other artist has EVERY right to possess and express a political opinion ....

As usual : the right wing HATES us for our freedoms ... they HATE when citizens are able to freely express their views ...

5. Ironic choice of events they use so far...
Whether or not liberals have had a preferential treatment in the past is one thing...

But you don't go after an ill person. And I don't care which party (s)he is representing. Especially if that person is known to have a legitimate condition!! And doubly especially when your own background pertaining to 'medical drugs' is questionable. Of all the people, Rush was probably the worst one to use to set off this rotten fight. And, again, you don't kick people who are down.

Fighting bias is one thing, but not by spitting on an unspoken word of society. You don't kick people who are down. And the people have seen what is going on and it's not helping Rush and his ilk. (which only shows how little they are in touch with the working class... oops.)

In other words, Rush and the other whiners only ADDED to the credibility of their opponents. As with so many other things, the Republicans seem determined to lose this year, it's very strange...

7. Mark Halpern tries to favor the GOP, never the Dems - but ABC itself isn't
all that biased - just Mark.

For many years I've pointed out to him when he has been selling a lie (which for some reason always seemed to favor the GOP) - and I found that he doesn't care. Relationship management and access - and now book sales - are higher on the list than truth.

Luckily Halpern is not that smart - and his giving the GOP message on M. Fox extra time is really not doing the GOP any favors - as you noted.

10. The Problem Is He's The News Director For ABC
and holds the keys to that kingdom, which he regularly hands over to the GOP. I've read that he is currently enjoying being the latest beltway darling.

13. Halperin: "Matt Drudge rules our world"
Halperin is a well-known neocon messenger.

"Matt Drudge rules our world... Matt Drudge is the gatekeeper... he is the Walter Cronkite of his era."
- "The Way To Win" by Halperin and Harris
