Karl Rove Announces Plans to Steal Election
Karl Rove Announces Plans to Steal Election
Submitted by dswanson on Thu, 2006-10-26 19:54. Elections

By David Swanson

White House political head honcho Karl Rove was interviewed by National Public Radio yesterday. He effectively announced plans to steal the coming elections. The polls point decisively to a Democratic majority in the House, and possibly in the Senate. Yet Rove told NPR he was certain of Republican majorities in both houses, and gave laughable reasons for his claim. Rove had no actual evidence to point to.

Here's the transcript:

MR. SIEGEL OF NPR: We're in the home stretch, though. And many might consider you on the optimistic end of realism about --

MR. ROVE: Not that you would be exhibiting a bias or anything like that. You're just making a comment.

MR. SIEGEL: I'm looking at all the same polls that you're looking at every day.

MR. ROVE: No you're not. No you're not!

MR. SIEGEL: No, I'm not --

MR. ROVE: I'm looking at 68 polls a week. You may be looking at four or five public polls a week that talk about attitudes nationally, but that do not impact the outcome –

<snip>

MR. SIEGEL: Have you seen the DeWine race and the Santorum race and -- I don't want to –

MR. ROVE: Yeah. Look, I'm looking at all these Robert and adding them up. And I add up to a Republican Senate and a Republican House. You may end up with a different math, but you're entitled to your math. I'm entitled to "the" math.

1. He sounds more desperate then he did two years ago
I think he knows they're finished.
If he says so, it means it will hurt their get out the vote drives and it will hurt them at the state level.
No one ever says, "Oh yeah. We're gonna get our asses kicked."

If they were to magically win PA and Ohio the jig would be up. They know it.

2. Believe Him.
Two presidential elections, two wars, numerous congressional and senatorial elections, supreme court appointments, thousands of dead Americans, record Big-Oil profits. There is nothing that Rove cannot accomplish.

18. And he means what he says.
I've made this comment several times before: Karl Rove, and other Repubicans, do tell the truth often. They just say it in a way that makes it easy to misunderstand and they rely on the good will of the public to misinterpret it. It probably makes it even funnier for them.

3. Is the October surprise...
... the fact that they have arranged to have the verdict in Saddam's trial announced two days before the elections?

What are they going to bill with it, Saddam doesn't headline as well as he used to. 9/11 is also losing traction for them.

I fear what they may do to scare the people into voting for crooked Republicans.

5. I think people are BORED with Saddam. They'll suddenly find WMDs in a cupboard in Iraq
knowing that they've been duped on Iraq.

8. Killing Saddam does nothing to change the situation in Iraq
We will still be losing.

6. And he is paid by tax payer dollars to do that?
Edited on Mon Oct-30-06 09:37 AM by Toots
What exactly is his government job description and is he doing it? Sounds to me like an open admission that the RNC is being run out of the Whitehouse and that folks is illegal....

7. "the math"? THE math? What does he mean?
"You may end up with a different math, but you're entitled to your math. I'm entitled to "the" math."

Does he mean the math he uses from his control tower when he gives the order to flip votes just cast by voters in xx precinct in xxstate?

9. "THE Math"
as decided by the rigged Republican controlled machines is what I think Rove is referring to.

10. I'm hoping it's just not possible this time around.
Way too many people think it's a foregone conclusion the Dems will win at least the House, possibly the Senate, and a whole bunch of governorships. Stealing an election that's a toss-up is one thing - but stealing this many elections that are clearly NOT going to be close - I dunno, you might just even arouse the scrutiny of the pro-corporate media.

19. But not one thing has changed with the machines.
The opportunity is still there and it's as easy as it was before.

13. I don't think he was talking about stealing the election.
You've got to remember his job...TOP CHEERLEADER for the Pub Party. The polls couldsay 98% plan to vote Dem, and Karl would have NO CHOICE but to say those polls are wrong, and WE'RE GOING TO WIN! One of the rules of politics is NEVER concede defeat until you have no other option!

14. Was he cheerleading in 2004 when showing "his own data"?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3987237.stm

Early exit polls quoted by media seemed to give Mr Kerry the edge, but colleagues said Mr Rove indicated right away that they did not tally with his information.

He used his own data to put Ohio and Florida in the Bush column - bringing cheers from the president and his family when he went into the Roosevelt Room and told them

21. I like Rove.
He's not the genius that people think he is. Thanks to him, Democrats will win the house. Thanks to him, Republicans will be extremely vulnerable in 2008, defending a crapload of Senate seats and their association with Bush.

Bring it on, Karl! Me likey!
