Al Gore would be my first choice paired with Feingold, Edwards or Clark. Hillary has too much baggage and is a women (I think the US isn't ready for that yet) and Barack doesn't have enough experience - YET but I look for him to run in the future.

Taking the poll seriously, voting Green or packing my bags is not an option. I realize that those responses are supposed to be clever, but if in reality it was down to those two, I'd probably go for Clinton.
I actually like Obama fine, but she has the money and the name and would probably do better.

In the real world, not DU-land, if it came to those two, I'd make a pragmatic choice.

primary you want: you don't have to be registered with a party to vote in a primary.

I voted for that idiot Bob Corker in the Republican primary because I knew the fundies didn't like him and he wasn't the neo-cons first choice either: polls indicated Ford had the best chance against Corker, so hubby and I voted for that imbicile as a tactical maneuver. Ford was unopposed in his primary, so it made no nevermind.

I know her time as first lady doesn't count in a career sense, but it does count in a presidential race.

I like Obama, and I think his time to run will come. He is an amazing speaker and a good family guy to boot. But he is young and relatively new to national politics. If the dem nominee in 2008 doesn't win, then Obama should definitely run in 2012.

The RW already ripped Gore to shreds when he ran - Gore running again gives the neocons no traction whatsoever. And Wes Clark can handle himself.

11. Actually, there will come a point when it will be down to two

After the first wave of primaries we will be down to four after Super Tuesday we will wittle down to three. anoither week it will be two...anybody who stays in without a victory at that point is quixotic. Gore, Edwards and Kucinich come to mind.

I am not convinced that either of these two would be in the final two, HRC because while she has money might not have a victory until the mid-March.

My concern about Obama is that he has never really been tested in a political campaign. He is as smooth as they come and seems unflappable. There is mudslinging in a primary, I am just not sure he will not be everyon's punching bag and if he will respond in kind.

28. After the series of debates, I only see Kerry and Clark. Add Gore IF he runs.

I don't see anyone else with the chops and drive to dominate the debates over Kerry and Clark - or Gore, IF he runs.

Personally, I think Obama is smart enough to know what he DOESN'T know at this point, and won't put himself in that position.

If that is all the choice we would have in 08 I would simply not bother to vote. Obama is good but inexperienced, Hillary is the Repubs choice because they know they could galvanize their base against her and win.

I'm still figuring him out, but I actually watched him on an Oprah my wife had tivoed last night and liked him. But he was speaking on some pretty broad generalities. It's fine to talk about general common values, but when it comes down to brass tacks is he going to just be another DLC'er? So far I've gotten mixed signals, but at least he has a compelling vision and a compelling narrative about the direction America ought to be tending toward. So even if all things were equal and he has some DLC tendencies, I give the nod to Obama over Hillary because he has the "vision thing" and can articulate that vision better than she can. To me Hillary always sounds like she reciting a list of policy changes to a room full of people with broken hearing aids. There's nothing inspirational about it.

I run short of patience with polls that hypothesize an election (either primary or general) and then, in a heavy-handed "Sophie's Choice" style, attempt to impose an authoritarian boundary on what I've always seen as an essential electoral liberty: the write-in vote. "Other" is always an option in a liberal democracy. Besmirching conscience in casting such a liberty as "packing suitcases" or choosing to self-excommunicate is, imho, antithetical to some fundamental tenets of a democracy.

I would vote Green or Socialist then if Hillary won the nomination. I have been banging my head against the wall everytime the Democrats nominate somebody who is not going to be a fighter. Hillary Clinton would spell the end of the Democratic Party if she gets nominated.
