I understand now why so many gay people are particularly disinterested in politics. It is hard to be a participant in a cpntest when you are the ball.
It is one thing to participate in the political process, it is another to be the puck in a face off or the ball tossed into the scrum. Everyone wants control of your fate and little care is given at the cost of getting there.
As one side fawns all over the "idea" of support with many quietly wishing they didn't have too, the other side is ready to build the camps and create a final solution to homosexuality.
So here we are again. At the eve of an important election that will once again determine the fate of a another little chunk of our collective sanity. The broken glass Republicans will cheat and try to win again at any cost, the pollyanna liberals will fight the best they can while not offending anyone.
The ironic thing is that the change we all desire will occur. We all know that ultimately fairness and justice will prevail.
Another reluctant participant...
I understand that fighting back is required and we all have to work to stem the tide of the final push by regressionist right wing nutjobs. The best defense for anyone offended by the state of this political climate is to call foul the tactics used by the GOP. It can never be stated enough that life isn't all about winning, it IS about how the game is played.
In politics, if you are unethical in the contest then the governance you provide is equally as unethical.
The abhorrent attitudes that have kept humanity back are displayed clearly in the days leading up to our election. The fearful always want to return to a idealized vision of life that never really existed and they try to save themselves from a fantasy fate by any means. The recent slate of "swiftboating" and attacks ads from the GOP, the state of the Republican controlled congress, the bile coming from conservative pundits as well as the swirl around the War in Iraq have illustrated all that is wrong with humanity.
So here we are. 4th quarter, less than a minute to go. Despite all of the cheating and one sided rule changes, for the GOP it's fourth down and the winning strategy is...that it is time to kick some fags.
How reprehensible is that? How sleazy and low can human beings stoop?
Pretty goddamn low it seems.
