GOP Timing--Hussein Verdict: Two days BEFORE election / Foley Report: AFTER election
Edited on Mon Oct-30-06 11:02 AM by Crankie Avalon
Saddam Hussein and Mark Foley: For the GOP, timing is everything

Although killings and chaos reign all around him, the presiding judge in one of the trial against Saddam Hussein expects to announce his verdict on Sunday, Nov. 5 -- just two days before the midterm elections in the United States.

Although it has "all but wrapped up the investigative phase "and doesn't intend to recall any key witnesses, the House Ethics Committee does not expect to make a report on the Mark Foley probe until after Election Day.

7. Grieve really connected the dots. I knew both points, but did not
draw the line between them until I read your post.

Like tens of millions of Americans, I guess I've been conditioned NOT to connect the dots between the "news" items media stenographers glean from carefully compartmentalized WH press releases.

The Grieve piece reminds me of what Bill Clinton said recently :

From http://sentinelandenterprise.com/ci_4553625 :

"Clinton returns; By Jonathan Graham. Article Launched:10/26/2006

... Clinton said Republicans want voters to believe Democrats will "tax you to the poorhouse, and on your way you'll meet a terrorist on every corner and stumble over an illegal immigrant."...

He said Republicans, both in Massachusetts and nationally, have not realized negative campaigns won't work this year.

Clinton focused much of his rallying speech on how Democrats must show government is a force for good, and help oust Republicans from state and federal legislatures.

Democratic supporters in attendance cheered Clinton as if he was a rock star when he arrived on the DCU Center floor. He even came back out after his speech to shake hands with throngs of people pushing toward the security barrier. A giant American flag served as a backdrop for the stage."
