I know you're busy. If you're like me, you sometimes wish politics was someone else's responsibility. But it's not. There is no one else to do this work. It's just us.

We've got eight days�that's 192 hours�to make our mark on this election. Thanks to you, we've got thousands of names to call in newly competitive races. We can win 'em, if we step on the gas.

For years, Republicans have tried to demoralize and defeat us. But through the Iraq war, through Katrina, through the scandals and the lies, our determination has only increased. We're not beaten down�we're rising up. This is our week.

After six long years, this is the week when we can finally set our country back on its proper course. This week is about proving that progressives are a real force in American politics�that the issues that we care about are the issues that most Americans care about�and that Washington has to start paying attention.

This week is about showing that we put our time and energy where our mouths are�that we do more than click. We can change everything this week.

P.P.S. In addition to Minnesota's First district and Colorado's Fifth district, here are some of the other races we were able to expand into thanks to your work on last week's "Leave No District Behind" Challenge. All of these races are really close, so our calls can make the difference:

* California's Fourth District: Democrat Charlie Brown is a veteran who opposed the war from the start and whose son is currently serving there now. Republican incumbent John Doolittle is tied up in the Abramoff scandal and a major ally of big corporations.
* California's Eleventh District: Republican Richard Pombo is a leading anti-environmentalist. He's an obstacle to energy independence, an advocate for oil companies and was listed as one of the 13 most corrupt members of Congress by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).
* Pennsylvania's Fourth District: Incumbent Republican Mellissa Hart is far-right Republican and very close ally of President Bush. She's also a supporter of the president's stay the course policy in Iraq.
* Missouri Senate Race: Republican Jim Talent is a conservative Republican who opposes stem cell research and also still defends the decision to go to war. Democrat Clair McCaskill believes the war has been a recruiting tool for terrorists and believes its time for the Iraqis to take control of their country and she's running a very close race.
* Virginia Senate Race: Republican George Allen is also a far-right Republican and close ally of the president's. He's been caught up in several scandals, most recently he was under-fire for racially insensitive comments he made on the campaign trail which also revived concerns about his "race problem." Democrat Jim Webb is running very close and this race could determine control of the Senate.
