RAS: Webb up 51-46 in Virginia
Rasmussen has Jim Webb up by five in VA--51-46--without leaners it's 48-46.

meanwhile a democratic poll gives Harold Ford a five point lead in TN--48-43

5. No, it doesn't say that
Without leaners, Webb is up by two. Allen was up by two the last time they did the poll.

I suspect that Allen's internals look exactly like this. It seems like they had a gentleman's agreement: Allen doesn't bring up the book stuff, and Webb doesn't bring up Allen's arrest record. Allen violated first, so Webb fired away. Of course, Webb had an ace in the hole: Allen's reliance on the book smear made him look silly, since the book had been out for twenty years and Webb's books are well tho8ught of in military circles. Allen wouldn't have run that desperate smear (and his new gay marriage smear) without looking at bad internals.

It will be close. Up until this week, I guessed that Allen would win by 2% points. I still think that, but it really does seem like more of a toss-up now.

3. Great news.
I'd love to think that Allen's idiotic attack on Webb's books, backfired. I actually have greater hopes for Webb than for Ford.

Five points is probably out of the margin of error for both the Webb and Ford polls. Good!
