What would you give to their side for National health care?
In a hypothetcial negotiation.
I, for instance, would let them put the Ten Commandments everywhere, but I wouldn't let them criminalize abortion.
How far would you go?

1. I wouldn't give them a thing....they are never, ever going to
negotiate fairly...everytime the Dems agree to something and keep their word the Repugs stab them in the back....No what we need is a majority in both houses and then have * use his veto against Universal Healthcare...

2. That's why I said "hypothetical"
For instance, if the right said "Let us teach the Bible in public schools" would you let them for Universal care?

4. There already is national healthcare...
...just get yourself thrown in prison so you can get treatment in any state.

8. The military too
Sign up for Chimpy's Grand Adventure in Iraq and you can get 3 hots and a cot, plus a doctor to amputate your leg after it gets hit with shrapnel. :sarcasm:

20. Actually, 60% of our health care back in 2000 was from the
government. Between, Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, Chips, and the VA 60% of money paid into health care is by government programs. I don't know how true that is today because I haven't kept up, but the insurance industry won't let go of that other 40% and probably has increased their influence, not their health care dollars mind you, but their influence.

5. Why the hell do we have to compromise on anything like that
in order to get healthcare for everyone?
If they were so damned religious, they would want healthcare for everyone anyway.

7. I would call off the investigation of Jeff Gannon
that seems fair. If they agree to double the minimum wage, I'd drop the investigation of Danny The Hut letting Foley get over on underaged pages for 2 years. For every major concession, I'd agree to drop one prosecution.

12. Why would you give them anything? National Health Care increases
productivity for corporations. Read Malcolm Gladwell's piece in the August 2005 New Yorker. Or what Paul Krugman has written. Right now, per American, you spend $6000 or so. Canadians spend $2000 or so. National Health care makes for wealthy doctors (I was around a hospital last summer and every third car parked around the place was a really fancy one...doctors are doing okay in Canada). It makes for better preventive health. It makes for healthier people.

Right up there with good public schools.

13. I'd promise to not support outing of gay republicans
or keep proping up drug companies with the Medicare bill if big pharma agreed to put all those profits into research and development.

I'd give them the South. Go back to 1865, draw the line. The could send us food and cotton and we could send them straight jackets. They'd get Bush, and all the racists and born agains. We'd get science.

21. well, maybe not the part about
the South.

There was a great "rant" in "the Internets" on that subject after the 2004 election. Something along the lines of "we fought a war to make sure we kept these racits religious nut cases?" Wish I had kept it, it was well done.

There are days. . .

i'm sorry i'd have to give it a no-go. our current medical system gives NOTHING for our health and everything for the damn slice and dice, and drug companies. i for one am not willing to support that.

16. They would have National Health care too
isn't that enough? I mean it's not like something is being taken from them in the first place. So that's the deal, they get to participate.

18. That is not how the conservative mind thinks
They think "Socialism", without ever exploring the costs and benefits. That is the main downfall of the conservative mind, unwillingness to change.

24. How about free breast enlargement for their women?
Hell, I'd even retroactively reimburse Katie Harris for the twins. They hate women anyway, might as well let them upgrade their "toys." My apologies to my female DU friends. I'm only holding my nose and trying to think like them. I love you just the way you are. ;)

Seriously, give them nothing. Plus, insert specific language that every woman in America has free access to on demand abortion. Then fund .30 cal MG nests on the roof of every woman's health clinic in the country and investigate every church and religious based organization in the nation for tax fraud, not just the 'liberal' ones.
