6. Most of 'em are unemployed people
who went into what they thought was telephone sales, got handed a script, and will plug away at it for the next week so they can reset those unemployment bennies.

2. Heh. I've done that before. Stringing them along
and interjecting my commentary and fake worry that the questions seem so slanted.

They just plow through, ignoring me.

4. I tell them I am a republican
and am too "upset" to even vote..
I always mess with polls

sometimes I am a rich hispanic man over 70
sometimes I am a 25 year old black woman
sometimes I am a 50 yr old man..

I am always a "republican" when they ask..and I always skew their polls

If more people did this, it would be a lot more "fun"..

5. Good answers. And yes -- these people deserve to be messed with.

Definitely.

I agree with other DUers here -- hold them on the line as long as you can. Make inquiries, such as:

"Do you think (name of Republican candidate) would support a bill to pay for channeling research? Because my dog died. He was a springer spaniel. We called him Zip. You would have liked him. Anyway, it's real lonely here since he died. He got hit by a car and we couldn't find him for a long time. Then Alice -- she lives down the street -- she was out along her ditch one day when she went to get the mail, and she saw something over in the ditch, near the culvert next to the 7/11 store, and wouldn't you know it, it was Zip. Well, she didn't call us for a long time because we were gone -- I think we were at the grocery -- but pretty soon we came back and just when we were putting up the groceries the phone rang, and it was Alice, and she said they found Zip. And we heard on Montel that some people know how to channel their pets, I mean, channel them if they died, not if they're still alive, so do you think (name of Republican candidate) would be for that? I mean it wouldn't take that much money, would it? How much do you think it would take? That's the big issue here at our house. We want to see how Zip is doing in the afterlife."

17. Hi, Old and In the Way. Thanks. We need more push polls by the
Republicans to test out these strategies.

This last week could be intense. But right now it looks like a lot more Democrats will sit in the 110th Congress.

9. I like to critique the survey questions...
for example: Is Amy Klobuchar too liberal?

Reponse: Too liberal as compared to what? Honestly, who put together this survey, what a stupid question? I want to talk to the supervisor.

13. My favorite ploy for unwanted callers of all stripes
ask them if they've "met Jesus Christ",
then see if you can "save" them and get them
to "pray with me".
Really creeps 'em out.

15. I agree that lying to pollsters can be great sport and quite entertaining.
However, admitting it on a public forum provides evidence that polls can not be trusted. If Democrats wish to claim vote fraud because the votes don’t match the polls, here is written conformation on a Democratic web site undermining their claim.

Some of the pundits are already preparing excuses for the polling data to not match the results. For instance, claiming that many African-Americans would never admit to voting Republican to a pollster, but once in the voting booth nobody will ever know.

Regards,

Mugu

16. I don't think even a (R) would take a Push Poll as any evidence of anything
It seems strange, but there is no law against lying your ass off to almost anyone unless you are under oath or it involves police officers.

18. Yeah, that's why they're push polls
The whole point of them is to plant something in the minds of voters, not to gather accurate data.
