He either wasn't prepared or isn't especially bright imo so how he can he lead in the polls? Is he riding Jeb's coattails, does Jeb really have coattails or is that a media myth?

2. The race has closed up.
A few weeks ago Zogby had Crist ahead by 15%. Now he is leading as of Oct. 27 by 4.5%. This was before last night's debate.

We will see what happens.

17. he's a classic FL 'repuke... BUT he's out of touch...
people here are REALLY scared of the insurance crisis. he hasn't even addressed it. Davis comes off as a good old semi-rural, semi-urban guy who talks the straight poop.

polls indicate a DEAD HEAT.

10. Not so much in Tallahassee, where most of the government jobs are.
And not so much with Black people, for his attack on and removal of affirmative action. What Florida has a lot of is social elitism and paranoid elderly. Segregation is a popular theme among republicans.

11. I wouldn't necessarily count on that
We have lots of mechanical voting machines here, and Ned has closed in tight. It is democratic state, and we kicked his ass out once, but like a case of herpes, he won't go away. The REPUBLICANS are all voting for him, but the majority here are registered indi. I'm not super-optimistic, but I'm not discounting Ned yet, or the voters.

(BTW, I'm from Cocoa Beach, lived there most of my life. I got out before the Bushes took over and turned the state into a parody).

16. the rundown of FL's daily papers' coverage is STARK!
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 01:20 PM by nashville_brook
the Orlando Sentinel, or as I like to call it, The Mullet Wrapper, doesn't have it on the front page. doesn't even have it on the front page of the "elections" section...!! ... but DEEP DOWN, if you keep drilling... there's a piece,
"Crist, Davis trade verbal jabs as Reform candidate joins fray" but it's overshadowed by yet another sad plea to pay attention to Kat Harris. Oh, and don't miss their endorsement of FEENEY today, based entirely on PROTESTING Curtis as "... not a credible candidate. His campaign is driven by his claim that Mr. Feeney asked him in 2000 to write a program that would rig electronic voting machines."

la ti da... moving on...

contrast this with the front page of the St Petersburg Times... FULL front page coverage... top of the fold...
(lead story)
Candidates offer up 3-ring circus: With the last-minute inclusion of a third candidate in Monday?s debate, Republican frontrunner Charlie Crist took a beating from two sides.
(analysis)
Cross fire shakes Crist from sound bites
(local reaction)
McCollum, Campbell fire harsh words
(AND... tada!... a mention of fraud!)
Who's running the voting machines?

the Miami Herald has a below-the-fold special coverage entitled "THE WHOLE NATION SEES A WILD FINAL DEBATE!"

lessee... Jacksonville.... it's in the sidebar mixed with national, world and entertainment news... see if you can spot....

-- Wages, benefits up at 2-year best pace
-- Saddam trial witness describes massacre
-- Taliban group threatens Pakistan forces
-- CDC investigating salmonella outbreak
-- Crist, Davis want to expand hurricane preparedness programs
-- NASA approves sending space shuttle to repair Hubble telescope
-- North Korea agrees to nuclear talks
-- NASA says Hubble repair mission is a go
-- Electronics giants team for wireless HD
-- Angelina Jolie may sue Cambodian ex-ally

no mention whatsoever in Brevard's (Gannett)Today Paper, BUT there's a special section on "Lawmen monitor molesters tonight" ...The Today Paper if obsessed with sex crime... b/c you know... if you feed them sex, they won't ask for REAL news.

Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.... nada... they're lead story is about aligators.

West Palm Beach? f'n nothing.

Tallahassee. State Capitol... you'd think there might be some election coverage... "RV Park Fire: Photo Gallery"

appropriate for Halloween... that's some scary news from Florida.
