This is reality for many troops serving. It was the case with me. I had no education and the only viable alternative for me, a single uneducated mom, was to join the military. Don't get me wrong, the Army was great for me.

But the fact of the matter is with expensive education, rotten economy and entry level jobs paying practically slave wages, many young people find no other alternative. The military can offer them money to help pay for their education.

It's sad so many have to risk their lives in order to pay for college.
