James Carville Predicts Harold Ford Jr. Will Win Senate Seat In 2006
http://haroldfordjr2006.blogspot.com/

It appears there is now another well respected political expert that believes Congressman Harold Ford will win the Senate seat here in Tennessee in 2006.

This is from the Brad Blog (http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002205.htm):

"James Carville appeared on NBC's Today Show to give his political predictions for 2006.

The Senate will make history by doubling the number of African-American senators. Senator Frist has said that he will not run for a third term. Carville predicts that Representative Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) will win Frist's vacated Senate seat."

Once again, this is only more evidence that Harold Ford Jr. is the front runner in this race and that he has the momentum on his side.

When someone of the stature of James Carville predicts a win for Harold Ford Jr., you can take it to the bank.

Also, more good news regarding Congressman Ford's Senate race from the Associated Press.

"Despite being New York's less-famous senator, Charles Schumer stayed busy in 2005, keeping a hand _ or quote _ in almost every major congressional battle. Now he is out to prove he has the strategy to elect Senate Democrats and maybe wrest control from the Republicans.

Schumer, the head of Senate Democrats' campaign efforts, said Tuesday he is focusing on seven states where he believes they can take GOP- held Senate seats in 2006: Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, and Arizona.

"If the stars align right we could actually take back the Senate," Schumer said."

"But one political observer said Schumer's list of seven target states in 2006 may not be as far-fetched as his detractors claim.

Bruce Oppenheimer, a Vanderbilt University politics professor, said the conditions in Tennessee may be ripe for a Democratic win.

"People think this race would lean Republican, all other things being equal. But it's in play," said Oppenheimer. "For the Democrats, it's certainly doable."

Folks, this race is winnable. In fact, Ford is the front runner with the momentum right now!

Lets get this brilliant young man elected to the U.S. Senate next year!

1. I have a moderate Republican friend from Nashville
He said Ford is going to win easily, because he's a conservative democrat who will get all the Dem vote and most of the indy vote. The Frist act is wearing REAL thin there.

2. Carvile doesn't know the people of tennessee very well

Even here in Memphis he is not predicted to win. His family is hurting his image since his uncle is John Ford and his father is linked to dirty politics. I don't think he will win, but I'll vote for him. Also, the people of Memphis don't think he has brought home the bacon from DC to the people of his district.

3. Sorry, I disagree
Check out my blog and see what experts, pundits, etc. are saying about him and this race. He is the frontrunner right now and will be the winner in 2006. He will make us a great U.S. Senator.

13. This isn't a black white thing if that's what you're thinking
it's part of it, but it has more to do with that he's from Memphis. Middle and East tennesseans don't like Memphians and haven't for a very long time. More it has to do with the fact that his uncle was indicted in the "Tennessee Waltz" scandal. The name I keep hearing is Ed Bryant to be the odds on favorite.

10. not useless
he votes for the Democratic leadership which is the most important vote. The leadership controls the agenda. You are not going to elect a progressive Democrat in Nebraska. The state is one of the most conservative in the country. Its that simple.

11. He has pretty good polls lately
Even though I'm not a huge Ford fan personally I've read that he has been moving away from corporations (which is good) and he signed Conyers' letter that first time around so I give him that and he's proven to me he listens to people with the vote with CAFTA on why he didn't vote for it. It would be nice to have a democrat represent me. In the long run I'll be happy with either him or Kurita.
