Reid Embracing Daschle-Like Leadership, Says Fidelis

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has adopted the failed-leadership tactics of Tom Daschle, according to Fidelis, a national Catholic-based advocacy group.

Fidelis President Joseph Cella stated: "By lending credibility to the filibuster threat of John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, Senator Reid is playing risky politics with the voters of Nevada and his party, and risks marginalizing his role as Minority Leader.

"Senator Reid has aligned himself with two of the most liberal Senators in the country, and is quickly becoming more like Tom Daschle by alienating the moderate voices of his party and by adopting the obstructionist tactics of his predecessor," added Cella.

Cella said: "Judge Alito is qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, he will respect the rule of law, he has received the ABA endorsement, and there are no 'extreme circumstances'. What more is needed to convince Senator Reid that there is no reason to delay a final vote on Judge Alito?

"The longer Senator Reid serves as Minority Leader, the more he becomes like Tom Daschle. Just like Daschle, he has embraced the agenda of liberal groups, blocks judges with procedural gimmicks, and pretends as though he is in touch with the values of his home state," noted Cella.

2. I e-mailed that nut yesterday
in response to his nasty Kerry/filibuster article. People here are saying he seems to be a one-man show. Still, it felt good to call him a religious nut.

3. These are the kind of folks who would like to reinstate the Inquisition.
All they need is an absolute executive and no seperation of church and state.

4. Sounds like a Tom Monaghan/Dominos Pizza funded group
The 734 area code is Ann Arbor, Michigan, home of Dominos Pizza which was founded by right-wing activist Catholic, Tom Monaghan. Anytime a right wing Catholic group from Ann Arbor pops it's head up out of the ground, Tom Monaghan has to be right there at the top of the list of usual suspects. Tom has funded right-wing campaigns for years and years. He also started Ave Maria University, which exists primarily to create lawyers to fight for right wing causes.

5. This group is awfully interested in Alito
Reid just announced and they were laying in wait. They attacked Kennedy during the Judiciary hearings. Expecting something from Alito?

Fidelis is a Catholic-based organization working with people of faith across the country to defend and promote the sanctity of life, traditional marriage, and the right to religious liberty by electing pro-life, pro-family and pro-religious liberty candidates, supporting the confirmation of judges, and promoting and defending laws faithful to the Constitution of the United States.

7. More people would listen to them if they were Anti-War and Anti-Capitol
Punishment, but then they won't do that because that kind of political power would be a challenge to their King.

8. hummm a 527 huh?
They need to be careful what they wish for. McCain has it out for all 527's. In their case, I hope he nabs them and chokes the life out of their 527!

9. Wait a minute. Aren't those "2 most liberal senators" also Catholics?

Kerry and Kennedy are both Catholics, so maybe the problem isn't with Reid, maybe Fidelis should be looking at means for better "disciplining" the members of their own church. I'm just sayin'...
