Remind them... remind them of what is at stake.

Here is a copy of the email I've been sending out:

Dear Senator ,

I would like to urge you to protect the Constitution and support the filibuster of Samuel Alito. This is a crucial time for our country and by voting to close cloture on this nomination, you are voting to place a Judge on the Supreme Court who is in favor of extending the Power of the Executive branch. By voting to close Cloture, you are voting to severely hobble the power of the Legislative Branch – the power you have for oversight of the President. The only way democracy works is with Checks and Balances, by giving the executive branch more power we reverse everything this country has been working to protect for the past 200 years.

Now is the time for the Democrats to stand strong and fight back. We may be the minority party, but we don’t have to cower under the simple threat of the Nuclear Option. Please vote against cloture… and if you have reservations about voting for a filibuster, please use your option of abstention. Don’t play a part in forever changing the constitution of this country and democracy as we know it. Please support a filibuster.

Remind Senator Byrd of the copy of the Constitution he has in his pocket - and ask him if how he could vote for Alio if he holds this document so close to his heart.

Ask Senator Rockefeller to use his influence to persuade Byrd to vote no on Alito and stand with his fellow Dems.

Remind these Senators of the under reporting that the media has done on Alito's Federalist Society Stances. Remind them that the majority of their constituents don't realize what a disaster this could be to their rights and civil liberties. Red State or Blue... the only way the public will be made aware is if the Senators explain why they are against Alito.

Remind Senator Landrieu how these Republicans she's siding with have demonized her in the past and how they continue to break their promises to te people of the Gulf Coast.

Remind Joe Biden that if he's even considering a run in '08, he better gett off the fence and jump on the filibuster bandwagon.

Keep this up... keep fighting!! We can't give up now!!
