MSNBC must be propping up cardboard dummies in a studio to pretend he has some viewing audience.

13. Uhhhhh, actually, ummmmm, how can I say this
MSNBC has known for quite some time that Tweety, is, shall we be polite, a little "off". They are just humoring him.

They are just afraid to fire his shilling ass because he'll go postal on them. Never annoy the crazy person, you know. Rigid belief system and all.....

That, and the thirty-seven people that watch him might stop and MSNBC would lose half of their total viewers.

Hannity, Limbaugh and now Tweety! All regular "observers" of DU.

Or it's just their mama's-boy Keyboard-Kommando type butt-boys monitoring us and reporting back.

17. Very Funny Jack
I sensed that this was a sarcastic, tongue in cheek post, so I'm glad I looked. I've decided the only way to combat the posts of people complaining about Tweety, is to just avoid reading them. Much as I avoid watching his lame show.

So to all those people on these boards who insist on watching his show, in the belief you have something to gain by getting "the other side's perspective." Go ahead and waste your time, but please don't rush over to DU so you can post...."Wow...I can't believe what Tweety/Limbaugh/O'Reilly/Blitzer/Hannity/Scarborough/Carlson/Etc. said today." Just watch the stupid damned show, and keep your frustration to yourself. Those of us trying to avoid his partisan GARBAGE would like to avoid having to see your stupid complaints.

19. Yeah, and for that matter, if you see Bush say something really stupid or
hear him say something evil, just keep it to yourself and don't post it online. We wouldn't want to expose his lies and stupidity...

:sarcasm:

(PS - I have boycotted Hardball. I only posted that from someone else who watched it.)

20. I have to admit...
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 07:59 PM by dufrenne
I like the guy. You can disagee with half of what he says, but I think that's generally a good sign of things (as opposed to those Hundred Percenters out there...i.e. the talking-heads who always tow the ideological line...). I find it personally politically healthy that one individual can have me agreeing with him one second and wanting to turn him off the next, as opposed to Hannity...who, for example, never goes off-script. Honestly, even if one likes Hannity, what's the point of watching him when you can predict with 100% what's he's going to say? Reinforcement I guess...

22. Matthews ain't that bad, I don't think.
If you're watching Hardball right now (well, it JUST ended), you're going to see him grilling a reporter from the Times. Drilling him that no one disagrees with the war on terror but criticising Bush and supporters for hedging on the issue and talking about this as a "global effort". Also took on the democrat response to it as weak.

If I didn't know better, I'd say he's been reading the various blogs. I know he's made some comments in poor taste, but he was doing well tonight.

And now, Keith. So off I go.

24. Welcome to DU!
I had a similar opinion of Matthews a year ago. I thought he was really on the "good" side of things, just a little confused. But over time, I realized that when he goes off on his opinion rants 95% of them are Republican support statements. He just likes ratings, so he will cover anything, but when it comes to his opinion, he is 95% Bush's buddy.

27. You know
my opinion of him is less based on anything substantive he has to say (like him or hate him...his show is "political analysis lite") but the fact that he's so passionate about his little corner of television. You get the sense that he's really passionate about politics and goings-on in Washington. Again, I disagree with a lot, but there are times he takes the right people to task about the right issues.

32. "there are times he takes the right people to task about the right issues"
true, like last night, they covered Bush's SOTU and said how he didn't even mention New Orleans

Then he turned around and took H. Clinton to task for "chewing gum." (He actually did that.)

So, yes he does take people to task for the right issues sometimes, but whenever he MAKES AN ISSUE UP, it is always against the Democrats.

PS - I didn't watch him, this is from what I read from others, since I boycotted Hardball.

34. He's on NBC hours a day, of course there'll be some bad spots
He does seem to take both sides to task, and tonight he was rough as hell with the Washington Times writer about Bush's claim that he's doing some big grandiose scheme. Was the gay joke deal stupid? Yeah, it was, but that doesn't really bother me that much and I'm one who's huge on stopping discrimination. It was a gay joke, deal. I got no indication that he was truly anti-gay, he was just joking around. As for the bin Laden - Moore correlation, yeah that was in poor taste. Not entirely wrong, per se, but in poor taste and it had NO reason to be mentioned for any reason.

I just wonder if people are jumping on his back because he isn't always on the side of the democrats. I read roughly six blue blogs religiously (Thank you DU for opening me up to them all!) and will continue to do so, but I don't support the boycott of Hardball. An hour of Hardball followed by an hour of Countdown makes me a happy person.

I don't always agree with him, I don't think he's infallible, but to me he's who O'Reilly wishes he could be.
