who spent his whole life tricking the American Taliban Nazi Party into believing he was one of them, and then.....GOTCHA!!!! Would never happen. Liberals don't scheme that much. Sometimes I wish they did.

I am not holding my breath but this give us some hope. Here is how some freepers see this:

Bush I appointed him, expecting a conservative, and wasn't John Paul Stevens appointed by Nixon? I'm NOT getting my hopes up, but maybe, just maybe, Alito won't be the monster we all expect and fear. (OK, call me Pollyanna....I've been called worse!) O8)

9. Stevens was appointed by Ford

Who was actually a fairly decent Republican.

Harry Blackmun was appointed by Nixon, and he ended up writing the opinion for Roe v. Wade.

I guess we can always hope.
