Bush Flip Flops AGAIN! Admin says he was only kidding about oil addiction
Normal human beings would be embarrassed and ashamed to say one thing one day and take it all back the next. These people shamelessly take back the Number One Point of the state of the Union address!

Where the fuck is the outrage!? :wtf:

Administration backs off Bush's vow to reduce Mideast oil imports
By Kevin G. Hall
Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally.

What the president meant, they said in a conference call with reporters, was that alternative fuels could displace an amount of oil imports equivalent to most of what America is expected to import from the Middle East in 2025.

But America still would import oil from the Middle East, because that's where the greatest oil supplies are.

The president's State of the Union reference to Mideast oil made headlines nationwide Wednesday because of his assertion that "America is addicted to oil" and his call to "break this addiction."

4. There was a movie on tv with Knau (sp) Reeves that on of the first lines
was that "America was addicted to oil" I guess Bush's speech writers borrowed it.

In the movie some guy had discovered how to turn water into energy - I didn't watch the rest of the movie to find out what happened.

14. Did I say I'd quit Crack? No no no.
When I said I was addicted to crack and I needed to break the addiction, what I meant was that the plan is to hit the pipe less, not get rid of it alltogether.

16. Best of both worlds for Junior...
Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 08:48 AM by Crankie Avalon
...on the one hand, while the rubes at home are watching the big SOTU, he "takes on" Big Oil and the rubes turn to each other and say, "See, pa--Gee Dubya tain't in the pocket o' that thar Big Oil like them thar pointy-headed libruls say! He's fur the little guy! He's one o' us! Praise Jeebus!!!"

Then, a day later, when the average Bush voter is back to watching shark attacks and celebrity gossip on FOX, the Administration can deliver a much less publicised statement reassuring the interests who really matter that it was all just a joke.

Win, win!!!
