LAY OFF that RePUKE Congressman's wife
She's doing more than photo op Laura would do and most of these guys are probably happy to have a visit.

Unless she's bitched about Cindy Sheehan or the rest of the anti-war people LAY THE FUCK OFF. If she has I'll stand corrected.

1. I haven't said anything negative about her
but I have stated that there is a stark contrast in the way she and Cindy Sheehan were treated. My criticism was directed at the police, not at her.

5. All I am questioning is if the t-shirt story is true
There are no pictures of her at the SOTU, no one but her old man have come forward to say she was even there.
Did she actually wear the shirt?
And was she actually told to leave?
We just want to see proof that she was told to leave.
But even if she was only told to leave, why was SHE not arrested? What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

6. read this:

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/02/02/rep-bill-young-stands-on-principle/

Rep. Bill Young stands on principle. Rep. Bill Young (R-FL) believes Capitol police clearly “acted precipitously” by removing his wife from Bush’s SOTU, but according to the Post, “wouldn’t be so mad if it were just (Cindy) Sheehan” because he “totally disagree(s) with everything she stands for.”

14. I see he applies the law and his outrage as I would expect him to
It was wrong when it happened to his wife and ok when it happened to Cindy. No olive branch there.

7. oh yes, heaven forbid we disparage a creepy reptile
Do you think, FOR A MOMENT, that the repukes would respond to that in kind?

I think not.

This is the problem. Softball and Chivalry VS. Hardball and Bigotry.

The latter has the advantage, as far as the sheeple are concerned.

The Republican Party is a net loss for humanity.

She called the cops idiots when they harassed her. What I would like to know is whether she did so out of principle and a firm understanding of her First Amendment rights, or out of the 21st century Repuke sense of entitlement.

The enemy of my enemy might not be my friend, when all is said and done.

On edit: see post #6 in this thread, which makes my point (although not my day).

10. I read that article in another thread yesterday

And I must admit, it caused me to see her in a different light.

(Note to self: must avoid prejudging and stereotyping.)

12. Thank you, I agree
I do not care what her politics are, she is doing a great service to the wounded vets. It is a very noble cause and when we belittle her we make ourselves look quite foolish and imature!

13. If she so loves the marines, why isn't at least one of her sons a marine?
She has three service age sons. None are in the service of their country.

I won't fault her for what she is attempting to do. She has found a niche. Good for her.

I don't see any positive write ups about Murtha and his wife, who also visit there all the time. I don't see Murtha's wife using her good deeds as an excuse for other behavior.

As posted up thread, Binka has first hand experience with this woman visiting her son and his friend. It was not a trip to candyland as this article states her visits are.

She didn't fit in with the Washington crowd so she found somewhere she would fit in.

I will admit, it's catty, but I wonder how the first wife feels. I bet she is getting a good laugh out of this.

20. Great question. I didn't know she had 3 service age sons!
The hypocrisy of these people is astounding. You're right. Why hasn't she sent her sons to fight in Iraq if she cares so much? The soldiers over there could use their help. It couldn't possibly be because their daddy is a Congressman, could it?

She could be visiting the troops to assuage her guilt over not sending her own kids to be killed, injured or maimed for life, but I won't fault her either. Some of those boys may have no one to visit them. I suppose she would be better than nothing? Maybe. Maybe not after reading Binka's account of her.;)

23. Two are his, one is hers from a previous marriage
29, 21, and 18. All well within the range to serve.

I admit to a catty thought and I still admit to that. She divorced her first husband, moved to Washington, worked as Young's secretary until he divorced his wife and married her. Reminds me of the story of "how to marry a millionaire". I still would like to know how the first wife feels.

22. All that said is she went to visit two vets who asked her to leave
so fucking what?

She, and other concerned people, shouldn't go to visit patients at vet hospitals? Because a few of those patients might not want visitors? Even though many might not have a mother there with them and might need someone to talk to?

24. did you actually read the post? she barged in, ignoring a "no visitors"
sign, clearly out of it. even if she were not "out of it", she was rude and inconsiderate to ignore the sign, at the very least. surely you can understand that.

I have spent more than my share of time in various VA hospitals, and would never think of ignoring a "no visitors" sign.
