British Memo: Bush Made Up His Mind On Iraq Two Months Before Invasion
Another Damaging British Memo: Bush Made Up His Mind On Iraq Two Months Before Invasion
The Guardian reports a newly-disclosed British memo provides evidence that Bush had made up his mind to attack Iraq almost two months prior to the war:

A memo of a two-hour meeting between the two leaders at the White House on January 31 2003 - nearly two months before the invasion - reveals that Mr Bush made it clear the US intended to invade whether or not there was a second resolution and even if UN inspectors found no evidence of a banned Iraqi weapons programme.

The new revelations demonstrate that Bush was deceiving the American public about his intentions in the lead-up to the war. On numerous occasions, Bush claimed he had not made up his mind to attack Iraq:

I’ve not made up our mind about military action. Hopefully, this can be done peacefully. <3/6/03>

We are doing everything we can to avoid war in Iraq. But if Saddam Hussein does not disarm peacefully, he will be disarmed by force. <3/8/03>

Should Saddam Hussein choose confrontation, the American people can know that every measure has been taken to avoid war, and every measure will be taken to win it. <3/17/03>

This is just further proof that you can’t take literally what comes out of Bush’s mouth.

2. It's only damaging if people know about it.

4. He felt that he could only receive the fame and glorious
legacy due a studly he-man hero like himself only if he was a war president. Never mind he went AWOL when it came to showing what he was really made of. Ignore that fact.

6. This is the part I think folks in the US will have a hard time with:
"reveals that Mr Bush made it clear the US intended to invade whether or not there was a second resolution and even if UN inspectors found no evidence of a banned Iraqi weapons programme."

It's proof that Bush didn't care if Iraq was a threat or not - he just wanted to go in and clean Saddam's clock. Considering the fact that the war on terrorism was diverted to do this, IMO it was a breech of national security.

7. he made up his mind the day poppy stopped short of baghdad.
that (not marriage, not birth of kids, not turning 40) was his moment of clarity, the moment that gave him his direction in life. he decided then and there that he would become president one day and finish the job.

he probably called an image consultant the next day, who told him to get sober or at least make sure they photos and videos of him drunk come to an immediate end.

his entire life from that point has been dedicated to removing saddam from power. now he's just going on inertia.

9. It is totally obvious now that Bush and the Neo Fascists...
lied repeatedly about Iraq and are still doing so. The questions are: Will anything legal be done about it? Do most Amerikans care about it? Does it matter if most Amerikans were extremely angry about it, which does not seem to be the case? Will Congress Impeach this Pres. on charges that are now plainly apparent?
