OMG! I Just Remembered Bev Young Visited Ben At Bethesda.

I just saw a picture of Bev Young and I had an OMG moment. It was the woman who barged into Hinkhouse's room while Ben was visiting. I thought her name was Bev Thomas but now I remember it was Bev Young. I digress let me set the stage here...

Ben and Hinkhouse were blown to shit on October 8th and were transfered to Bethesda from Germany mid October. Hinkhouse is Ben's buddy who suffered massive head injuries and had his right leg blown off, he is 18. I came to the states on October 30th. Ben was getting better, Hinkhouse was not. Hinkhouse had more surgery to his leg which had another five inches removed. Ben had not left his room and really wanted to see Kade(Hinkhouse). On the 2nd of November some Congress critters were going to be around for a visit, out of respect Ben said "sure" they could stop in and visit him. Later that day Ben asked to see Kade. It was an ordeal to get Ben in the wheelchair, it took almost 30 minutes. When we left the room he told his roomie Zach to tell any visitors he was sorry he wasn't available because he was going to see Kade. Kade did NOT want any visitors and had a sign by his door stating such.

In a morphine haze these two boys held hands while Ben recounted to Kade what happened, Kade had no memory of the explosion or Germany or ANYTHING. Kade's Mother & Father and girlfriend Sue (who as an aside, poor thing, Ben told me Kade had shown everyone in Iraq including Iraqis his porn video taken with Sue, I cracked up every time I saw her, because Ben kept threatening to go up to her and say "I've seen your Hoo Hoo." anyway back to the story) wanted a break so it was just Ben, Kade, and I in the room.

A few moments later in comes this Navy Commander and this sorta disheveled, kinda slatternly woman. She was wearing jeans, and cheap sneakers, and a giant flag sweatshirt, she appeared a bit tipsy and she stunk of ciggies. I was thinking WTF is this? But Ben cool as shit looks at her and says "yes?" The CDR introduces her as Rep Young's wife and again Ben says "yes?" Like why the shit is she in here. Now Kade is getting agitated because he can't lift his head up and does not know what is going on. She then proceeds to ask them how they are and are they with the 2/2. Ben says "No ma mn, we are with the 3/7 and this is the first time we've talked since the IED and my friend here doesn't want any visitors." You could see the hatred in her eyes for Ben. At this point Kade is starting to yell and Ben is telling him "It's cool Hinkhouse it's cool." Mrs Young all pissed off and feeling slighted walks out of the room with her head stuck in the air. Nary another word.

Kade needs the nurse because all the thrashing messed up the position of his leg, at this time he was not aware that he lost a limb, it was fucked up. So Ben and I wheel to the hall and he says "Fuck I need a cigarette." So I go get a blanket and take him outside where he asks me "Mom WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" I say "Well it appears that we didn't get a Congress critter we got his wife." "That woman is married to a Congressman? Fuck where were the pearls and the cardigan? Who dressed that beast?" he wailed. "What an asshole she was, how dare she intrude like that." "Man she must have been bombed Mom" he said.

I had TOTALLY forgotten about that whole ordeal because it was only one of 1500 moments of weirdness following Ben's injuries. But seeing her picture and remembering what a complete bitch she was combined with her scene at the SOTU (if it happened, this woman is a con artist) brought all the horrid details back. She was SO inappropriate, and so unconcerned, and so phony, and full of her own bullshit, she doesn't give two squats for the troops. And if I saw her walking down the street today I'd tell her" BEV, YOU AREN'T WORTHY OF LICKING CINDY'S TOILET WITH YOUR TONGUE. OR BEN'S OR KADES!"
