Well tell me are you ready for a war with Mexico? If you call them on it thats what it would be. I am not saying we shouldn't call them on it, just stating consequences.

So much for El Paso being a border town friendly to all who live there on both sides of the border.

I'm sure the politicians will come up with a bloodless solution(on the Mexican side that is).

The least Gov Perry could do is call out the Aggie Corps of Cadets to guard the border...

Armed uniformed incursions should be dealt with immediately and firmly with rockets and gunfire. This is an armed invasion. The Mexicans are trying to make incursions normal. Eventually they will stay longer and longer north of the border until the border itself is effectively moved northward.

Developing the exit strategy will take longer than the war, but I'm ready.

That war is effectively begun. Mexico is making a stealth move to take territory and/or establish freedom of movement north of the border.

1. I saw something about the military being on the border on a TV

on one of the cable news outlets at a restaurant this evening. There is supposed to be shock over Mexico having their military on the border? Don't we have an armed presence on the same border?

2. There was a report last week of them being on OUR side of the border
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 12:17 AM by Nevernose
There was a report last week of them being on OUR side of the border. This would be a rather creative mistake for the Mexican Army to make, seeing as how it was in Texas, and the border is a freaking river. There was apparently a stand-off between Mexican military forces and local Texas authorities, and now the RW is in an uproar, inclusing one local Texas sherriff.

The official story quickly changed, however, and siad that it was the usual run-of-the-mill Rio Grande drug dealers dresed up in Mexican Army uniforms -- outdated, antiquated uniforms, though not members of the Mexican army. They did, however, have modern firepower.

While I can't certain of any news coming from the Bush administration, the use of outdated uniforms being used by drug runners makes perfect sense, given the last year's worth of news coverage on the current border/drug-smuggling crisis in Juraez, Matamorez, and Laredo. Apparently former Mexican special forces units are in a war over the drug trade. And until we legalize marijuana and take a serious stand over hard drug use, eliminating the supply and rehabilitating the addicts, this shit will keep going on.

3. Re: Disagreements with Eastforker
These folks have obviously never been to Mexico, at least any place that wasn't a tourist destination.

The whole godamned country is poor. I don't mean "no big screen TV poor", I mean really goddamned poor, as in "water and sewage is a luxury" poor. The bastards on FR obviously have no idea what it means to be really poor, so poor that you had to steal tortillas to feed your family.

If I were Mexican, you couldn't pay me to stay in Mexico; I'd be across the border so damned fast that no wall or army or landmines or weapon could stop me, respect for the rule of law or whatever be damned!
