My wife says I have moved from skepticism to corrosive cynicism...
When I mentioned to her that the photo of Bush showed a tear running almost down to his lip. I asked if whether or not the "average" person would wipe the tear away, rather than wait for the camera to take a picture of it? In order to show his compassion and hurt? Even his tears are staged for effect and political purpose!

1. With Respect to Your Wife,
I think you are being realistic.

I think that * would do anything if he thought it would help him politically.

3. Your wife should listen to you
Everything these people do is staged. All the debates are staged. All photographs are photo-ops. The only reporters allowed into these events are the ones wearing kneepads. Its not corrosive to know when your being lied to, its damn smart!

11. Welcome to DU heinz AND demrabble
:hi::hi:

heinz that is the #1 thing you have to remember with this lot. They already "Achieved" their main goals (empty the Treasury into their cronies pockets, raid the public trusts for profit, and get boots in Iraq) the rest is just winning the daily news cycle for sport mostly.

8. Cynicism is rampant under bushco.
We have been lie to so many times, that now we must question everything this admin. tells us. Sad fact of life with this white house. IMHO bush doesn`t have the compassion to shed a tear for anyone except himself.

9. That is why Bushco keeps getting away with it
People don't want to listen to those of us who know it is all bullshit. Too depressing. Thus either we stop talking or they stop hearing.

And Bushco gets a free pass.

10. It wasn't tears. He was sweating bullets, and he missed wiping one away.

Seriously, you are right, and my wife thinks the same about me.

It's hard to keep one's unbiased perspective when having to suffer murderous fools.

and I've never seen a tear starting at the outside corner. They always come from the inside, unless the person is lying down.

13. My wife is even more cynical than I am.
Last night, when Bush appeared while switching channels, she screamed, "Get that asshole off!"

A good (ex)Catholic girl who once voted for Reagan. Now, a very left-wing Socialist cynic who sometimes astounds me, an Anarchist, with her disdain for anyone to the right of Karl Marx.

How can I not love her?

27. Awww! I love that!
I love seeing a man talk nice about his lady! Good on you! Recognizing those qualities you love in a person is so special.

My b/f watched the speech, but he normally yells "aiieeee" and changes the channel whenever he sees the chimpy mug.

I listened on the radio during my commute home... missed the tear... *snif*

16. I'm of the same opinion as you. There was more than one
photo of him with that tear on his face, and they were clearly separated by more than a few moments. Everyone I've ever seen cry- especially in a public setting- wipes the tear from their face as it falls. And those are people who were just bawling, with tears streaming out. Bush appeared to have had just one, and left it there.

C'mon- if you don't believe a man like Bush would play up a tear for the camera, you're just being naive.

Edited on Fri Jan-12-07 11:28 AM by mrcheerful
She said I was becoming a nut case. Well its not my fault that the remote that I threw at the TV was cheap and broke when it hit the wall during shrubs new plan speech, new plan stay the course. I couldn't believe people believed he had a new plan just because he used bigger words and didn't actually say stay the course. But then, I'm a liberal and I can smell bull shit when it reaches my ears.

This is what I thought on seeing several "Clinton cries" photos. Don't let the special criminality of the Bush mob blind you to the cynicism of politicians generally.
