17 US Reps Want Impeachment Probe
20 Now Support Impeachment, Resignation, or Probe
By Matthew Cardinale, Editor, Atlanta Progressive News (February 2, 2006)

(APN) EXCLUSIVE: The number of Members of US Congress supporting US Rep. John Conyers’s (D-MI) H. Res 635 has now jumped to 17, including Mr. Conyers. The US House bill would create a Select Committee to investigate the grounds for impeaching President Bush.

The two newest co-sponsors are US Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and James Oberstar (D-MN), who signed on yesterday, February 1, 2006. Just yesterday, Atlanta Progressive News exclusively reported that H. Res 635 had reflected 14 total co-sponsors at the time .

A total of 20 members of US Congress now support either a probe that could lead to Bush’s impeachment, Bush’s outright impeachment, or Bush’s resignation.

This is edging close to ten percent (10%) of the Democrats in the US House. (CONTINUED...)

1. Like Diogenes with his lamp..... We are searching for
an Honest Republican. (I have heard rumors that they still exist, but that they no longer inhabit the halls of Congress.)

7. It Would Seem to Me That At Least One Wants to Be Re-elected
One day someone is going to wake up and realize we, the people, see the system is broken and want it fixed. A "fixer" is bound to come forward. Maybe the older Repugs in the House will decide they have nothing to lose and sign on.

3. We have to call Zoe. And while Nancy may feel she can't
take the risk, we have to let her know she should be leading the effening way.

Oh my God, I just can't believe that the blue dress got an impeachment but ignoring the threat before 9/11, starting a war and allowing the Gulf Coast to drown doesn't.

4. I don't believe incompetence is an impeachable offense.
But the flagrant flouting of FISA laws is. In any case, 20 is less than 5%, and repubs control the congress. If impeachment is to be viable, we need to take back the House and the Senate.

6. Incompetence? What about criminal negligence?
Congress will not impeach This Criminal. His own party will have to make him step down.

And good luck to us trying to take back anything until we clean up our elections.

8. Even if the Dems do take back Congress, do you really think they
have the courage to pursue impeachment? There are too many Vichy-dems afraid to stand up for what is right.

I think they would take the victories as a sign that their safe (and traitorous) manner was successful and therefore, they should not rock the boat. They do not realize that there is war going on, and it ain't in Iraq.

I firmly believe that a rousing defeat followed by a whole-sale house (and Senate) cleaning is the only thing that would shake the party out of its doldrums.
