My marathon shirt
My fourth marathon is coming up in April. 26.2 miles through downtown St Louis.

Its a common practice among the casual distance runners to run 'for' other people. It helps with motivation, especially in those last few miles. Some do it to raise money, like Race for the Cure, or Team in Training, which run for cancer research, or to remember someone important in their life. Many of these runners will make a shirt listing the names of the people they run for.

For the last two years, I wore a shirt that said "Running for my dad, XXX XXX, 1945-1999."

This year, I'm running for the 2,000+ who wont be coming back. I'm writing the name of every single soldier that has died in this illegal war on my shirt. And to make sure people really understand my point, I'll be doing this to my Army Grey PT shirt. I got out in 2000, but I still have it in the basement.

I'm sure my dad will understand. He served in the Army for 2 years himself, and narrowly missed going to Viet Nam.

Does anyone know where I can get a current listing of those who died? I would like to start on this soon, its going to take a while to write all those names. But if you happen to be in St Louis on April 9, come downtown and watch me and 10,000 friends take over the streets for a day.

6. I did not run last year.
You never know in April. Some times it will be hot other times it is rainy and cold. Personally, I'll take the heat over rainy and cold any day.

8. I may be running next to you.
I ususally run a little faster (not much) than that, but I have not started any serious training yet. We may run the half instead of the full.
