US can "beat" North Korea
SEOUL – The US and South Korean could defeat North Korea in a war, America's top soldier said yesterday.

His statement followed an assessment by the chief of US intelligence that North Korea, together with Iran, was still a "state of highest concern" to the US because of its nuclear programs – though al-Qaida was the top security threa

2. Only the U.S. should have nuclear weapons...
because only the U.S. is free of tyrannical, war-loving leaders who would employ torture and illegal spying as tactics....

3. I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed...
But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops.

4. Peter Pace
And Wilhelm Keitel, both loyal to their masters, if we're truly lucky perhaps Pace will meet with the same fate.

6. Fearless Leader hasn't been looking so good lately...
...hopefully he'll die and be replaced by someone less crazy and oppressive.

To clarify, I mean Kim Jong Il, though Bush leaving would be nice too :)

8. "Washington is reducing the number of troops in South Korea."
We have a strong military and I have the utmost faith in their abilities but why talk smack when you're drawing down troops? Every time I read something like this - where they say one thing while doing the opposite - I find it harder to believe their intent is to keep us safer.

12. 30,000 troops that are a few miles from the DMZ
That get blown up within the first day of the war aren't going to do anyone any good.

The ground war on the Korean peninsula would be fought mostly by Koreans.

15. Am I understanding this right...
When Pace says we he means the South Koreans along with a relatively small number of our guys against a greater number of North Koreans? I wish to hell he hadn't boasted, our guys are not expendable or for show. If he's not going to fully commit to the effort, a more conciliatory tone would've been better...or is it just me thinkin' that?

10. god, I fucking hope so
I hope we can squeeze out a victory against an impoverished, starving, undersupplied and undertrained nation with no natural resources or allies. If not, why are we spending several times the North Korea GDP a year on a military?

11. Because...
It's being run by a tyrannical despot who holds public executions of dissidents and has proclaimed himself, amongst other things, the Lodestar of the 21st Century?
