Think About It...
Do you think that the Republicans know that the neocons are bad news, but they do nothing about it because their hatred of us is so strong? I mean, look at how they respond to Bush--they seem to like him because he doesn't give in to the liberal side. I thought about some of the responses to the poll about Chavez here, and some of the responses helped me come to this conclusion. Someone asked if a "dictatorship" in Venezuela was perfectly okay because Chavez is on our side. That helped me to come to my conclusion about the conservatives' puzzling behavior concerning Bush. Maybe it's not really stupidity. Maybe it's just a desire for revenge that has gotten completely out of control. If this is true, we need to get them to see that their desire for revenge isn't just hurting liberals. A lot of innocent people on *both* sides are being hurt. We got your message, conservatives:you don't like us. Now knock it off. Stop supporting a tyrant.

2. Of course. It's the premise of stirring up the culture war.
I believe that bush backers know his war has failed, his antiterror policy is weak, his economics suck and that he's an idiot. But they will never admit it lest they give some credit to the gay lib commie black atheist that's been saying it all along.

The purpose of the culture war was to get a cadre of people who's hate against their fellow americans is so great that they will back someone on "their side", right or wrong.

Its a cut off your nose to spite your face kind of thing for many Repbulicans. And for others they will die rather than admit that they are wrong. Especially the ones that have always been very outspoken about their politics. They would rather get screwed by all of the neocon's policies than admit they (neocons) are idiots.

4. It's the "if I can't have her, NOBODY can!!" schtick...
Remember those cheesy monster/horror flicks where a deranged man-beat kidnaps the beautiful woman (the object of the man-beast's attentions) and spends the rest of the movie running away from the good guys? At the end, when the good guys have the man-beast cornered, he yells something like, "If I can't have her, nobody can!!," and then holds up some instrument of death in a threatening manner. This is usually followed in the nick of time by a hail of bullets from the good guys, killing the man-beast, and the hero and heroine are reunited. Music swells and "The End" appears on the screen.

That's what I see in the GOP today. They're in trouble and they know they can't have the USA all to themselves, so they do a kind of "If we can't have her, nobody can!!" to the their nemesis: the liberals, progressives, Democrats, etc. The GOP will tolerate GOP lies, corruption, scandals, and con-jobs in order to have the USA all to themselves, and when they realize they can't "have her," will kill her before the "good guys" take her back.
