Can someone please explain to me why that weirdo Fred Phelps
goes to funerals of people he doesn't even know?

I don't get it; I don't ever remember such a whackjob in my entire life. What is he hoping to accomplish?

1. Getting attention? Pathetic excuse for a man.

3. Quite apart from the fact that...
... he's crazy as a shithouse rat, it gets him some attention for his insane anti-gay campaign. He doesn't seem to care if that attention is largely negative--it's still publicity to him.

9. Doesn't matter to him...
... he'll find some suitably strange logic to justify it. He was picketing soldiers' funerals because, as he said, they were dying because the country had embraced homosexuality. It makes no more sense than Falwell blaming 9/11 on gays, or Robertson blaming Katrina on gays.

It's just insanity. It's like trying to see logic in the ramblings of schizophrenics--one just can't do it.

11. Most of the soldiers whose funerals he protests aren't gay either
Phelps says God is using Iraqi landmines to kill American soldiers as punishment for America's "fag-infested, fag-enabling" society.

NC DUers, I got a project for y'all in case ol' Fred decides to come to Fayettenam and protest a funeral. So far the traditional counterprotests have not worked, so it's time to implement Project Y. (This is different from Project X...the eagle is in the handbasket...the eagle is in the handbasket...everyone pay attention...)

In Project Y, we get a BUNCH of people. A hundred or more, and the more gays we can get the better. We break off into pairs of men or pairs of women. All the men dress up as effeminately as they possibly can; all the women dress like construction workers. When Phelps unloads and kicks his protest into gear, immediately all of the counterprotestors encircle Phelps, boy-pair, girl-pair. And they immediately lock lips until one of four things happens: Phelps's head explodes, Phelps gives up and leaves, Phelps comes out of the closet, or the funeral ends.

The most effective way to deal with this is for the counterprotestors to follow Phelps from funeral to funeral, suckin' face in front of him until he throws his sign down and rapes some dude in the middle of Main Street. Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen since Phelps, unlike the average liberal, has no job. So we build a chain of counterprotestors from coast to coast, ready to suck face for Fred on a moment's notice.

We could extend this to other things. Anything Phelps shows up to protest, we can show up to counterprotest.

12. i have said for years he goes home at night, climbs into bed..
...and the rest of the night is filled with images of being ravished by Wesley Snipes and Kevin Costner.....at the same time.

he often says he'll show up for this or that, gets lots of free publicity with his threats, and his opponents are sputtering mad, planning counter-demos....
and he just doesn't show up.
he's raised all kinds of hell, damaged people and upset families beyond belief....all from the comfort of his Lay-z-Boy....what an asshole..

6. He's hoping to get his ass kicked
or a law passed against his protesting, or his "church" burned down...something, ANYTHING he can use to justify filing a lawsuit.

Westboro Baptist Church's finances are dependent on income from lawsuit judgments. The whole family is lawyers; they file suit after suit against their targets until they ruin them. This is one of the reasons the Topeka police won't go after this person: the Topeka chief of police says Fred Phelps is thoroughly capable of taking his house, and he doesn't want Phelps living in it.

7. Sick bastard
WBC has warned Mrs. King for' more than 10 year that by
endorsing the homosexual agenda she was bringing down the
wrath of God upon herself, her family and the black civil
: i :ii rightsmovement. She is an ingrate -- unthankful and unholy.
:Gdd Almighty never said it is abomination to be black. He
did say: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with
womankind; it is abomination." Lev. 18:22. Mrs. King gave
God the middle finger, saying, To Hell with God Almighty.
It's OK to be gay. Mrs. King thus spat in the Face of God.
God has mawelously blessed black America. Beware, lest
God now curse thee for abandoning Him in favor of vile fags
& dykes whom God has given up to uncleanness, to dishonor
their own bodies, to vile affections, and to a reprobate mind.
