Look at what's coming down from North Dakota and Minnesota. Our mild winter weather is over for most of us now. One of our local forecasters (St. Louis) gave a monthly outlook for February, and according to her our precipitation for the month will be below normal, but temperatures according to her will be, and these were her exact words, "very far below normal."

I've got extra blankets and comforters ready to hide under at night for when it drops to 15 below. Are you ready?

And they laugh at us as we rant, moan, and complain here. We do it with heartfelt sincerity, but we all still manage to believe that somebody, somewhere, name whit held, address unknown, is doing something about it because they were elected.

And yet, that somebody that we are calling out to, depending on, voting for, intending to vote/not vote for, has other issues and lives a charmed life with money, health, wealth and privilege ... the very BEST that money can buy. So do their spouses, children, and if all goes well, the endless line of progeny they have sired.

Do I smell the tinge of an evolutionary, organismic joke here?

If we were only talking about a species or an animal, how would we look at what is and will transpire in our politics? Who is deciding it, ultimately?

Who will get to go into the secreted bases if there is a World-wide nuclear war? In other wards, who's genes will be more assured of living on?

What fruit of whose wombs will get the best opportunities, the best education, the best food and childcare, the most toys at Xmas and the finest clothes that every covered a body? Who can go to a doctor anytime and not worry about how to pay for any treatment, no matter how severe or protracted?

Who can go where they want, and when they want via any mode of transportation available? Who can have ALL the channels on any media service and the full package when it comes to any cable or satellite service?

Who can afford not only one McMansion, but several, and in more than one location?

Who can get their kids off of a major or minor bust using the best lawyers money can buy because, well, you know that kids will be kids and teenagers make mistakes when they rebel?

Is that you? Can you do that? Can you wave a magic, financial wand and solve your basic problems? Can you?

The people that pretend to represent you might as well be Grays from another Galaxy or Dimension as far as you are concerned, my friends. Oh sure, maybe they have “been there done that” but your travails are no longer theirs and they are now invested in making sure they never have to sink as low as you and suffer the pains and consequences of this modern life that is either total heaven or a descent into impoverished hell.

They tell us not to engage in "class warfare". They have been doing just that since before recorded history but they encourage us to just enjoy our television and take it.

4. we've ordered a couple more cords of wood

miscalculated on our usage, down to the last 1/2 cord. called our "wood guy" last night, he'll be dropping off 2 cords on Sunday.

It's helped alot with our heating oil. Used very little of it since our last delivery in November. If we keep using the wood, the oil should last us well past winter

considering how mild the winter has been so far and balancing that against our wood usage - we figure we're going to need 8-10 cords for next winter - especially if next winter is bad
