To be pro death penalty ...
...one would have to assume:

1. The courts always get the conviction correct.
2. The execution acts as a deterrent.
3. That locking them up for life is more expensive.

Since none of these 3 are true, then what good is the death penalty?

Is it a visceral vengeance with no regard that a falsely charged person occasionally is put to death?
If that is the case, then we are nothing more than mindless animals.

1. or you just believe that some people should be killed
not all death penalty proponents believe or even care whether or not these assumptions are true.

2. I expect that revenge is the motivation for most...
That support the death penalty. As you say there is no argument based on deterrence, public safety or cost that would justify it.

4. Revenge
I believe people place all their anger into those they believe are guilty of a crime, any crime. These people on death row are just whipping boys for the angry.

6. It's all about revenge. I used to support it, then looked into the FACTS,
now I think it's inappropriate. Too many false convictions.

8. I love the sight of an open mind in the morning!
So many people cling to their beliefs without even "looking into the facts" because as they see it they are right no matter what.

We are human; therefore, we are fallible.

I've changed my mind when I thought things were set in stone. It was a real eye opener.

Happy to see there are others out there who do the same thing.

Yay!

7. For Most It Is Combined of Feeling Society Is More Safe,
(they still kill when in prison, ya know) and also for feeling that they don't deserve to live for their crimes.

Most I know that support it do so for those reasons. They feel those that are so vile to murder in such ways do not deserve to live and pose a risk to others as long as they are alive, therefore for others protection should be executed.

I myself do not condone the DP, but you did miss these other points in your synopsis above.

9. there is no excuse
for the death penalty.

its the old way.
an eye for an eye.

its pure REVENEGE and the LUST for that satisfaction.

I would have to have something thats punishable by death happen to me or my family though to see how firmly i stand behind it, but based on how i feel now... no death.

i believe life n prison is a better punishment and that death is an easy exit.

11. Yet the RW'ers...
...argue that court appeals time should be shortened.
Of course that would increase the amount of innocent people being executed but blood lust is blood lust I guess.

16. You would get a grade of 'F'
If this was a critical thinking class, your argument would be dead on arrival.

You should do a little more research before you ascribe your assumptions to your opponents.

There are stronger arguments for the death penalty. Look it up.

I am anti-death penalty by the way.
