Tweety thinks maybe liberals and gays burnt the churches
I'm liberal and a gay rights supporter and I didn't frigging get the memo!

http://openlettertochrismatthews.blogspot.com/2006/02/matthews-says-maybe-liberals-and-gays.html

Matthews says maybe liberals and gays burned down churches in the south. On his TV show tonight Chris Matthews suggested, without any proof at all, that maybe liberals or gays were responsible for a series of terrible church burnings last night in central Alabama.

Here's what Matthews had to say about it tonight on Hardball

MATTHEWS: Is there anything in the papers down there where a Baptist church has taken a position on some social issue, gay marriage, something that's hot, where that would have aroused somebody?

ATF AGENT CAVANAUGH: I haven't seen that Chris, but it's very viable because we had an arson at a Unitarian church in rural Virginia, back in the summer, and it was right after the church at a national level had embraced gay members. There was an attack on this church in Staunton (?), Virginia, so things like that can happen.

MATTHEWS: That's why I'm thinking like that because the more liberal churches would drive some people on the right crazy and maybe a more liberal person, who's gay for example, would feel that they've been terrorized by the beliefs of another church too. We don't know.

6. You said it!
Too bad we can't go on TV and speculate it was MSNBC pundits that did it just to have something to talk about. I don't trust that guy with the bowtie.

3. the logic doesn't follow, the UU's are LIBERAL..!! the Reich Wingers burned
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 12:47 PM by sam sarrha
THEM DOWN....!!!!

this is the most insidious type of Fascist BULLSHIT... disjointed logic fed to the most stupid and ignorant Reich Wingers to insight them to do it again.. giving them free license to blame their criminal acts on the liberals.. a free ticket to mob rule.. demonizing scapegoats.. just what Hitler did.

this is an OBVIOUS attempt to polarize the Conservative churches before the next election, and they probably burned down the churches just to get this negative press on the liberals

10. Unless it is something really personal - - like a janitor being fired by
all four churches, or a choir boy having been molested by someone who worked as a youth minister at a Baptist church - - those people are flattering themselves if they think any non-Baptists think about them at all.

The only people who would even take note of those little churches would be either someone who wanted to highlight the "War on Christians" or somebody who needed insurance money and torched more churches than his own to make it look like a hate crime.

12. One of Tweety's many failings is his literalness.
If Osama Bin Laden says he hopes Kerry wins, it never occurs to Tweety that somebody might be using reverse psychology, or that the timing suggests a desired outcome other than the one stated.

If churches are burned, he assumes the most obvious interpretation: that church enemies did it.

You'd think he was born this morning, or never read Shakespeare or any other literature. Hell, you could watch a soap opera and understand way more about human nature than Matthews seems to know.

It's a given that Bin Laden is a murderer who wants to destroy us. So a) why would anybody believe anything he says, and b) why would anybody think he wouldn't try to trick and confuse us at every opportunity?

Who on earth views every piece of information at face value -- with no experiential frame of reference?

Only Martians who just arrive here this morning, and media faces like Tweety.

Oh, and teenaged girls in horror movies who enter dark houses (blithely ignoring the scary music!) and who turn their back to the room before putting on the lights?

They don't seem to have any more frame of reference than Matthews.

Yikes.

13. Oh yeah...
You know how us Libruls are into hate crimes and all that....

You know...gangs of homosexuals roaming the streets beating and terrorizing the straights. Groups of militant Quakers storing ammo and guns in the basement and burning churches. The airwaves are just filled with Liberal propaganda while the poor, downtrodden, persecuted, margialized conservatives can't even get one minute of national airtime on radio or TV.:sarcasm:

We're taking over the world, don't you know. :tinfoilhat:

What an ignorant douchebag. :grr:

14. This is the same tactic that oppresive regimes use
Justify violence by blaming the victim. Per Tweety: "The liberals need to just drop dead so that the Conservative/Right Wingers don't get upset and burn down churches."

:puke:
