How should we "honor" Fred Phelps when he dies?
How should we protest his funeral? Or should we do something different? Maybe nothing at all since that would be stooping to his level?

1. Party at my house!
I am in Topeka btw.

Seriously, we should ignore him. Why give him more of what he wants?

25. Hey!
I am going to be in KC tonight to hear my son play with Howard Johnson (lol). He played with a lot of great people but I want to ask him about playing with Spinal Tap. I hope I don't embarrass my son.

We went to Jazz last night to hear mopaul's band. They are wonderful. First Friday of every month. Maybe you can come some time!

Did you get my email about the KEC meeting?

It will be a very sparsely attended funeral. Why add to it? I don't think the GLBT community should be there. His death will be satisfaction enough. And yes, you better believe I'll be satisfied when he finally croaks.

Install a toilet on his grave. I'm sure there's a lot of people lining up to take a piss on it when he dies.

the man does not deserve an ounce of my energy. i won't lower myself to his level. he is full of hate and ugliness, i won't be. i'll be whatever he is not: compassionate, loving, peaceful.

10. We should find a brave, patriotic, truly sick, perverted person
who would be willing to bugger him as he dies, and let that be his final memory: becoming one of the "fags" he loathes so much.

After all, he's into that sick, twisted "eye-for-an-eye" Old Testament garbage.

I know lots of conservatives. I don't know anyone of them who agrees with Fred Phelps.

I may disagree ideological with many of my conservative co-workers and family, but almost all of them are decent people.

Your world must be very small indeed to think that all conservatives are in lockstep with the vile Fred Phelps.

20. Phelps is just more honest than your conservative friends.
The "normal" conservatives still indulge in lots of anti-homosexual rhetoric, support anti-homosexual legislation, and vote for candidates based on anti-homosexual rhetoric and agendas. Phelps just says out loud what most of them feel inside, and if you don't believe me, how could Bush have been elected with his "We have to stop the GAYS!!!!!!111!!1!" campaign strategy if this wasn't true?

28. Your memory is rather foggy.
Bush wasn't elected on a campaign of "We have to stop the GAYS!!!!!!" He was elected primarily based on national security issues.

Rove used state marriage amendments initiatives to get the voters out to the polls. Just because someone thinks marriage should be one man, one woman arrangements doesn't mean they are anti - gay to the level of Fred Phelps.

Many people are uncomfortable with the idea of expanding of what a marriage is and isn't. Rove used those fears to drive people to the polls. It was more fear of change than anti-homosexual impulses.

The "normal" conservatives still indulge in lots of anti-homosexual rhetoric, support anti-homosexual legislation, and vote for candidates based on anti-homosexual rhetoric and agendas.

There are very few single issue voters that vote primarily on an anti homosexual agendas. It comes into play, but it is not the driving force.

Phelps is in a league of his own. Vile, hateful and seriously deranged. Almost all decent people reject his methods and modes of operation.

The # 1 reason you are wrong is Fred Phelps has what, 100 followers? If conservatives believe what he says, he would be over flowing with people coming to his cause. Universally, he is shunned at every event he plans.

To lump all conservatives with him is a disservice to many fine people who are looking for a reason to vote democratic, but this type of rhetoric keeps them away.

No wonder we can't win. This conservatives are all evil nonsense has to stop

18. The day before he dies... when he is too weak to speak.
Have a tabliod publish his last "confesion" telling the world that he spent his life as a self-hating closet homosexual, and all the nonsense with his "church" was to put up a false front so that no one would suspect his deep, penetrating, throbbing, secret.

We could have a big funeral for him, and let him know what it's going to be like when he actually goes. Where does he live? It should be in his hometown. So he doesn't miss it.
