Spreading the truth about terrorism is the key to waking people up
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 03:42 PM by undeterred
Its not the economy, the irritating fundamentalists, or the lobbyist scandal.

This administration has lied to everyone in our country about many things, but the big lie is the nature of the terrorist threat and what really happened on 9/11. I am not suggesting that it is easy to find the truth about any of this, but there is sufficient weight to cast a reasonable doubt on many aspects of the official cover story.

And the big lie, the mother of all the Bush lies, was not just to Democrats or liberals, but to every man, woman, or child in this country. Republicans and Greens and Socialists and Democrats. Rich people, middle class people, poor people. Every race and every belief system. The one big lie is about al quaeda, Usama bin laden, and the involvement of the Bush administration allowing this to happen (at the very least) and in covering up the truth.

Imagine if a shooter came into a room full of people and killed 15 of them. Afterwards everyone who witnessed the event was sworn not to talk about it. The shooter was allowed to come back and clean up the crime scene for 6 months and destroy all the evidence. The official story was the story given by the shooter, who allowed an independent commission to question him without requiring him to take an oath or let himself be taped. The shooter and his friends clain that only they can protect us from future shooters.

We have to get rid of this evil regime.

1. "The Power of Nightmares" BBC documentary is good place to
start -- can be downloaded from several sites but after a couple erratic downloads I was happy to find a DVD on e-Bay for less than $10 including shipping. It explains how CIA trained Osama and why the "War on Terror" concept is required for the neocons to continue their aggression.

3. "The truth alone will not set you free." >
It is vital to spread the truth, but until we really start reframing the debate, the truth will bounce off the protective barrier around conservatives and never wash over them and make them new...

4. The worst lie
The biggest lie is that the terrorist want to kill us all because they just hate us or they want ot convert us all, and that policies have nothing to do with it. Most Americans have no idea that Israel has human rights issues.

7. Sorry to link to Amcon.
Robert Pape has done extensive studies on this.

The Logic of Suicide Terrorism

It’s the occupation, not the fundamentalism
<snip>
Another point in this regard is Iraq itself. Before our invasion, Iraq never had a suicide-terrorist attack in its history. Never. Since our invasion, suicide terrorism has been escalating rapidly with 20 attacks in 2003, 48 in 2004, and over 50 in just the first five months of 2005. Every year that the United States has stationed 150,000 combat troops in Iraq, suicide terrorism has doubled.

8. If Karl Rove was a Democrat, he would attack that since it's Bush's only
strength.

And you are correct, it is all a lie.

I'm hoping this thing some researchers announced recently sheds light on it. I list 9/11 as an option for a research paper in my English class, and apart from throwing out a couple of cryptic words like bojinka and Krongard, and mentioning how fast our fighters can scramble and fly, I don't say much. The students who do it invariably come to similar conclusions and are shocked by which ever thread of evidence they pull. One found some discussion of engineers that said the WTC was built to withstand a jet strike like that, and the effect should have been like a hole in screen door because of the way it was built. Others have found the stuff on steel buildings burning until the were gutted without falling to the ground like that.

It might be a tall order for Democrats to do this--Cynthia McKinney got hammered for just touching the edge of what is common knowledge now, that Bush had adequate warnings to stop it but chose not to.
