increased dramatically in the last 2 weeks or so? I frequently note to my husband that there are many new members each day but unless I'm wrong, there seems to be a large jump lately. Is there a big jump in numbers?

I alway give the newbies the benefit of the doubt, even when they want to be a bit contentious. The trolls don't really bother me and I find the drama of "outing" them quite entertaining. I just happened to be here for one of those meltdowns and, honestly, I've never laughed so hard in my life when he was tombstoned.

13. I came back to DU roughly a week ago, and was amazed

at how dead the place was. I wasn't surprised, however, to find the level of tolerance for ideas and scholarly discussion at the same narrow margin. Even though I come across some good information here, I was right to leave DU in the first place. Nothing democratic here. This is my last reply, and I know I won't be missed.

P.S. It isn't fair of me to lump everyone into the same basket. But overall, I do expect my fellow democrats to hold to a much higher double standard.

Actually, I've been visiting DU regularly since the summer of 2004, when a friend told me about the site. I've been reading the articles, following discussion threads, and otherwise appreciating DU for some time. I JOINED DU the night of the State of the Union--I really wanted to follow what all of you were saying (I sure didn't want any input from the folks at msm--I'm really, really, REALLY tired of the spin) AND I COULDN'T BECAUSE I WASN'T A MEMBER. So I fixed that so I won't have to go through another major * speech without companionship.

26. I've been noticing "unseen-before" screen names a lot for months.

Yet the unfamiliar screen names seem to have "high posting" numbers...so unless they've changed screen names...which is NOT indicated as a footnote on their post...I'm perplexed. Aside from all the "new screen names,"I note a lot from last year are no longer present...including Will Pitt, who I note doesn't seem to post here anymore (unless I'm missing his posts)?

I know a lot of Dems, in general are getting dismayed (or afraid to post), but...
