5. Here's a clip
http://www.sonyclassics.com/whywefight/

And PBS's NOW interviewed the guy who made the film last week. Here's an excerpt from their website, but you can probably see the interview online at PBS's site:

Biography
Eugene Jarecki is an award-winning dramatic and documentary filmmaker whose most recent film WHY WE FIGHT won the 2005 Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. "Combining the skills of journalist and poet," VARIETY writes, "Eugene Jarecki joins the top ranks of non-fiction filmmakers with WHY WE FIGHT, a thoroughgoing and affecting film on the nature and causes of the American military-industrial complex." The film will be released theatrically by Sony Pictures Classics in New York and Los Angeles on January 20 and nationally on February 10.

In 1992, after training at Princeton University as a stage director, Jarecki turned to film. His first short subject SEASON OF THE LIFTERBEES premiered at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival before winning both a Student Academy Award and the Time Warner Grand Prize at the Aspen Film Festival.

His prior film, THE TRIALS OF HENRY KISSINGER, was released theatrically to critical acclaim in 130 U.S. cities. Winner of the 2002 Amnesty International Award, the film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and has been broadcast in over thirty countries. In 2001, Jarecki also wrote and directed his first dramatic feature, THE OPPONENT, which was distributed by Lions Gate Films.

In addition to his work in film, Jarecki is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Eisenhower Project, an academic public policy group, dedicated in the spirit of Dwight D. Eisenhower, to studying the forces that shape American foreign policy.

9. I'm sure it's better on the big screen.
I watched it twice at my computer, and my eyes hurt.
If I can find it showing in Pittsburgh, I'll go with a group. I like to support films like this when I can.

6. It's at the Angelika in New York
I don't know if it has been released in theaters around the country.

It starts with Ike's 1960 speech warning about the military-industrial complex and, using the title of Frank Capra's WWII propaganda films, it skillfully delves into the reason why the US has fought wars since 1945, though it mostly concerns the current Iraq War and how we got there.

An excellent film.

13. Our Troops Fight be cause the Jihadi`s hate and want to kill us.
In case anyone has forgotten there was the attacks of 9-11-2001. Previous to that there was at least a decade of attacks upon our Nation by these Jihadi Bastards. These people are our self declared enemies and we can never forget that. Denying reality has never and will never change it. ...Oscar

we have been screwing with their countries and bombing, and overthrowing their governments for over 50 years.

3 minutes in almost any speech he gives. He has said it so often, that it has become white noise.

No one has forgot 9/11 Oscar, trust me. :eyes:

20. Do not know what " Current TV " is. I do not watch TV. Reality Sucks
as I know very well. If you think I am a Bush fan you are very mistaken. There are in my opinion some very terrible realities we all have to face now as during most of my lifetime. The troops we have are the only thing between us and these people determined to kill and destroy us. ...Oscar

The epiphany of the NYC cop who is featured throughout the film is truly stunning.
Again, I urge you to watch it. It's free and will only take an hour and a half of your life.
That's not asking much, now is it?

26. I Clicked the sight and read text. Was not able to get more.
I know you are a good person and believe what you present, never the less I saw nothing to change my thoughts. I agree that Bush is a very poor leader for our Nation during these dangerous times. As a war veteran myself, I have no respect for him and his disastrous mistakes. That does not change the fact that we are facing dangerous and determined enemies. .Oscar

You're right, these are very dangerous times, and that is precisely the reason for you to watch the film. Download with realplayer. The truth is there. I know that's what you're looking for.
Take care.

17. Why we fight...is redux...
the original was a WW2 propaganda deal...but I could see a sequel...

(Voice over by John Houseman) Today, tomorrow and for all of the days of our lives-we MUST have oil. (video montage-Los Angeles Freeway/Lincoln Tunnel/Chicago Loop)

(Voice over Continues) Unfortunately, most oil lies beneath people with a sad propensity to wear dish towels on their heads. (Video montage-Iraq/Iran/and the shale sands of Northern Canuckistan)

(Voice over) Whoops-some of that is beaver skins. But the point remains that the untermenschen..strike that...people NOT LIKE US, frustrate our needs and arsenal....(Video montage-drone strikes/drone strikes/mob of Superbowl fans running north with pitchforks...

Do you not believe they hate you? They say it all the time, every chance they get. Thier actions prove they mean to do more than just talk about it. We have a very real enemy. Do you not believe that? ...Oscar

I would like to know. Since there was no criminal investigation or trial, just a lot of grandstanding by Bush, I suspect him or his handlers.

28. Muslim Jihadis attacked us as they did before.
They hate us and say so all the time. They kill us whenever they can including women. Hitler tried to deny what he was actually doing, at least in his initial attacks. These people make no pretense about what they are up to. These people hate and want to kill us, they say and do it all the time. The facts speak for themselves. ...Oscar

30. Oscar...
Please watch the Power of Nightmares. It will show you how the Neo-cons exaggerated the threats from the Soviets and the South Americans in the 70's and 80's, and how all their 'evidence' has since been proven completely false. They are doing the same thing with the "terrorists". Yes, we were attacked on Sept. 11, but do you really believe some guy hiding in a cave in Afghanistan pulled that off?

They are lying to us, just as they have been doing for years. Please educate yourself.

31. Unable to respond to all posts. I am a loyal Democrat, always have been.
I am a liberal Democrat and have fought for that cause much, with time and money and will continue to do so. I know all those who disagree with me have hearts that are in the right place. We are in a very dangerous time. We have very real enemies that we are forced to combat. I know what that means. I fought 2 tours with the Marine infantry and it was very hard on me. I got injured badly < GUT SHOT THROUGH AND THROUGH >. It still hurts. I do know what is being asked of the troops and do not like it. I would not wish it on anyone and that is why I proposed creating an " American Foreign Legion ", along the lines of the " French Foreign Legion ". I could not in good conscience conscript anyone to go through the sort of hell me and my comrades went through. I know there are many fellow DUers out there who have done as much and more. My point is that we are once again at one of those times when we Americans have to fight, or, more accurately, have fellow Americans, fight in our stead. If it gets to the point when the Army or Marine Corps will accept me I will go. Frankly I do not enjoy life much anymore, and , therefore it would not be a big sacrifice on my part. ...Oscar
