Getting really tired of the Condi Rice, media darling thing.
Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 11:38 PM by abernste
I bring this up because of that scene tonight at the Super Bowl where they showed her in the box with the NFL Commissioner. But in the bigger picture, it really is disgusting the way the media treats her like she is a bright spot in the Administration. The very fact that the SCLM continues to raise the question of whether she will ever run for President is exhibit #1. The fact is, she was the National Security Adviser who presided over the greatest national security breach in the nation's history. How she was promoted is understandable since Bush is the world's ultimate failure, in both his life and presidency. But how she is even spoken about as a viable candidate beyond nerve wracking.

2. The "velvet" touch?
Ewwwww. Hate to say it, but there are definite sexual overtones there.

Thanks for not being able to imagine two g'damn planes flying into the World Trade Center, you prickess. (I think that's the female version of "prick")

3. Wow, that's a hell of an example.
Thanks.

And did you catch the use of the passive voice? "Seen in firm control" -- seen by who??

4. I love how Condi is used as the Republicans' race card....
"How can you call Republicans racist? Bush has had more blacks in his cabinet than any president!"

10. The only prominent black Republican politicians I can think of...
...are rich former football players (J.C. Watts and Lynn Swann).

15. But even so, he's a "politician" now.
In the same way Schwarzenegger or Jesse Ventura are "politicians."

I actually rather like Ventura, though.

5. Don't worry, after 2008 she's gone
Her "big success" in the West Bank was a flop. And fundies don't know if she's anti-abortion or not.

Say bye bye Condi.

6. A Pimple On The Face Of History...The Next Dulles
History will not be kind to this regime. Once this evil war in Iraq plays out, those who participated in its run-up and ruin will be viewed as some of the most inept "leaders" this country has ever had...and be assured, Condi will be at the top of that list.

Remember, the NFL loves both flag waiving and corporate money. I would have thought an appropriate half time show would have been for Ford to bring out all 40,000 soon-to-be-terminated employees and have Donald Trump do the honors. Only in America.

Unfortunately the Condi For President campaign office is located in Dick Morris' pants.

9. The NFL league management is right wing
I have to conclude that.

Last year on Monday Night Football one of the announcers (Al Michaels I think) said something to the effect of "he's doing more flip flops than John Kerry" (paraphrasing) describing something on the field. This was during the 2004 presidential campaigns (just reinforcing the negative Kerry stereotypes, apropos of nothing).

The NFL also hired Rush Limbaugh and Dennis Miller at different times, to do color commentary.

11. Correction: Michaels, Miller and Limbaugh were all Disney hires.
Regardless of how right-wing the NFL management may be, responsibility for hiring those three falls squarely upon Disney/ABC/ESPN.

14. Rice is their patsy
Rice runs interference when the administration needs to play a minority card.
The hype is: African-American, female, very intelligent.
The reality is: clueless/barbie/victim.
