Another strange Zogby Poll.
Who comes up with these questions?

An authentic but controversial life is better than a celebrated, but compromised one.

What I put on my body is driven more by self expression than it is by popular style.

Products, like people, must seduce me first with the package, then with the contents.

I'd rather have something that lasts a lifetime than something that dazzles for a season.

Shopping is a treasure hunt in which stores, eBay and garage sales appear on my map.

My favorite shops feel like old friends and my favorite brands like family traditions.

2. I took that poll this morning.
And I had to read some of those questions a second time because they didn't make too much sense.

3. I was about to quit, it was inane.
Usually at the end, they tell you it's the end. This time, I answered a question and was taken to Zogby's web site.

14. I did quit, because it WAS inane
Zogby sent out one last week that I accidentally deleted. From reading my state's board here on DU, it was a poll worth taking -- asked questions about the governor's legacy, the overall condition of the state, etc. I was hoping that this latest one would be along the lines of the poll I zapped -- halfway through it I concluded that this was utter bullshit and I had better things to do with my time.

Every so often they have these "out-of-left-field" polls. I'd like to know for whom they're doing them.

5. That first question is driven by the Oprah book club thing
about the man who's non-fiction life story turned out to be mostly fabricated.

6. They are worried because people are not "shopping" like they used to
could be people are just scared of losing their jobs (or already HAVE) and they are not as enamored with "products" as they once were,.

I agree, it was one of the more pointless polls I've taken. I was hoping it would have some post-SOTU questions on it, but no such luck.

10. It reeked of market research to determine how political ideologies ...
... drove brand loyalty and choices of style over substance (and vice versa). A strong correlation between "voted for Kerry" and "prefers Costco to WalMart" would indicate that shopping patterns are indicators of political position. This is how the GOP has been making their GOTV efforts more focused. After all, buying customer lists from retail corporations could be far more cost-effective than mere precinct demographics.
