Betcha Sen. Durbin Knows About Pajamas Media Now!

Capitol Hill is buzzing with talk of a news conference earlier today in which Powerline's Paul Mirengoff was pushing some hard questions at Sen. Teddy Kennedy, D-MA, and Sen. Richard Durbin, D-IL, about the NSA's anti-terrorist international "eavesdropping" program.

Kennedy apparently got flustered with Mirengoff, so Durbin started fielding the questions and himself became increasingly flustered. Finally, according to one account, Durbin asked Mirengoff what news organization he represented.

When Mirengoff said "Pajamas Media," Durbin said something to the effect of "I've never heard of Pajamas Media, who the hell is Pajamas Media."

To which Mirengoff responded: "Well, Dan Rather knows something about Pajamas Media."

Oh how I hope somebody caught this exchange on camera.

UPDATE:

Paul Mirengoff emails this clarification:

"No. As I recall he said something he wasn't familiar with its work. Then, when he blew off my follow up question, he said as snidely as he could that he would look for my work on Pajama Line. The import was 'who the hell is pajamas media' but he didn't use those words."

I'll bet Durbin's press secretary is googling "Paul Mirengoff" and "Pajamas Media" right now!

he had a definite agenda. Dubin asked him who he was, then said he'd never heard of his publication. The the 'reporter' said, 'Dan Rather has'. Durbin walked away.

just noticing the font on 60 minutes, and being some sort of expert, and then hid and refused to answer any questions since then?

If so, a lot of people have a lot of questions for HIM. We should find out and if he approaches another Dem senator, they should ask him some relevant questions. Like who was his handler in the WH back then. He was terrified of having to answer questions, I'd love to see him be questioned thoroughly about his role in that whole Rove operation.

That whole affair needs to be reopened and investigated and Buckhead needs to be hauled into court and put under oath, imo.

Didn't they have one of their 'Hugh' demonstrations (three or four Freeps carrying signs, as I recal) in support of Gannon/Guckert in DC when the meanie liberals found out he was just posing as a reporter?

I thought fake reporter Jeff Gannon was there? Freepers are easily amused and grasping at straws these days to distract themselves from all the scandals surrounding their crooked party.

Durbin doesn't exactly consider Pajamas Media the second coming of H.L. Mencken (like so many of the bloggers there appear to), and consequently doesn't give a rat's ass who they are.
