was made famous last November, that of a battle weary Marine after the battle of Fallujah, was used by some to show the sacrifice of those fighting in Bush's war on Iraq (he says the Marines considered discharging him, so the "poster boy" would not be killed). The soldier, Blake Miller, has since come back to Kentucky, suffering from PTSD. Last week the SF Chronicle did a remarkable in-depth interview of this man. Miller has not become overtly political, but has doubts about the cause, and the people that were in his gun sights.
See a summary here, with links to the full story:
TomJoad.org On that page also, I also have a link to two short films (both done by gifted DU folks!), with background music by James Blunt. The first one includes Millers face, which I think really personifies the lyrics:
"And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness."
Let's work hard to ensure Vets have access to the health care they need. Full funding for Veteran's Hospitals and care centers!
Let's also do everything we can for to support those soldiers who refuse to kill or die in this illegal war.
