Spokesman for the Urukhu Clan insisted today that depictions of the "aurochs" - a type of cattle central to it's cultural identity, which showed up on a cave wall in Lascaux, France-- were highly insulting, and simply would not stand.
The clan called on all of it's peoples to kill anyone they saw that was definitely involved, suspected to be involved, or lived anywhere near someone that may or may not have been involved in the paintings. Taking it a step further, an Urukhu Clan offshoot, the "Urukhanunu" (Ooo-roo-kah-noo-noo) called on killing all of the above in an especially gruesome manner so as to show they mean business.
The cave cartoons, which some believe to be the work of well known cave cartoonist "Hargh" spotlight an ongoing argument over what is free speech, or more precisely, do cartoons even fall under the category of speech, since they don't sound like anything.
Cave philosophers have dwelled on this as well as art in general for centuries, but up until recently most stayed well clear of the "aurochs" since it was clear that the Urukhu Clan were a little touchy about the subject... having killed everyone that brought it up.
A messenger for Hargh, who would speak only on condition of anonymity, says the cave painter was shocked by the outrage, although definately not involved.
As a gesture of goodwill, he has offered up his women as a sacrafice to the Urukhu.
More as the situation develops.
