10. First time I ever heard of John Cornyn

was when I Googled him after the BIZARRE "suiciding" of ex-Enron exec Clifford Baxter in Sugarland, Texas, just as the whole scandal hit the fan. He'd already left the company, and it seemed he might testify. You can research the strange circumstances of his death -- as I recall, he was found in his car in a strange place to commit suicide, with gravel on his hands and bare feet, and apparently killed with "ratshot" (?).

Who issued the death certificate, closing the book on the autopsy and the inquiry? Some guy named John Cornyn, Texas AG. I looked him up, and naturally he's BushCo all the way. I thought to myself, "This guy's star is about to rise..."

Next thing you know -- lo and behold -- he's a Senator.
