CHENEY on wiretaps: "We have ALL legal authority we need."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday resisted bipartisan appeals for changes in a hotly disputed warrantless eavesdropping program, saying he believed "we have all the legal authority we need."

Democrats and some Republicans have urged the Bush administration to work with Congress to revise a law already on the books in order to end questions about whether the spy program, initiated after the Sept 11, 2001 attacks, was constitutional.

In an interview to air on Tuesday night on PBS' "Newshour," Cheney was asked whether President George W. Bush was willing to work with Congress to settle some of the legal questions about the spy program.

"We believe... that we have all the legal authority we need," Cheney said.

7. Well I guess that settles it, then.
Because Cheney says it is, it's legal. Ok. Huh. I guess I'll just speed past the squad car on my way home and tell the police that I have the legal authority to do so. Cuz I say so.

8. Hey Dick, maybe I call you Dick. . .can I use your middle name Head
Hey, Dickhead, where in Article 2, in Amendment 4 or Article 1 does it say the following:

1: In times of war that the President started, this document becomes a suggestion.

2: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized, except when the President feels it to be inconveinent.

And because Jon Kyl's office told me that "the Constitution doesn't expressly prohibit the President from unwarranted wiretaps," where does it say in the 10th amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. . .but only when the President dictates them.

So, Dickhead, care to explain?

23. How 'bout Dild O'Reilly, Sean Insanity, the bush Cabal of course...
not leaving Beautiful Mind Baba out, and the twins. Lotsa juicy stuff would come out from spying on those twins, I bet.

The next Dem President is gonna have such a total BLAST! S/he can do ANYTHING! S/he will be above all laws!

Oh yeah, we'll want a full list of freepers for the next Dem prez to spy on. And of course freeping rightwingnuts won't mind, coz they have nothing to hide.

15. additional legislation...would disclose the program...possibly damage it
Cheney said he was concerned that additional legislation on the issue would disclose the program in a way that would possibly damage it.

Translation:

...additional legislation on the issue would disclose the program in a way that would possibly expose these PNAC evil fucks for what they really are.

20. If there was ever somebody who needs his ass kicked it's Cheney.
He can look right in the camera and lie.
He can have maps of Iraqi oil fields on his desk in March of 01.
He can look right at John Edwards and say you never went to
work in the Senate because I never saw you. And the next day
when pictures of Cheney & Edwards sitting next to each other
at the Congressional prayer breakfast show up on the front
page of the Washington Post, he can grumble and walk away.
He can say that Iraq was linked to 9-11.
He can get a bill into the senate called the Asbestos reform act,
that get Halliburton off the hook for $600 million.
He can claim that 9-11 would have been prevented w/ wiretaps
all the time knowing that the NSA was spying before 9-11 and
that the they had 52 warnings about 9-11.

This is the real face of bush & company ..... snarling, manipulative,
and without an ounce of compassion.

It is his downfall that I will enjoy more then any .........

21. What I don't get
O.K. it's a national security issue. O.K. you felt you HAD to do this. I just can't get why they can't explained how this spying is different than the spying in the 1978 law covers. It doesn't explain how the old law makes the current spying too slow. They never offer a way to up hold a warrant system AND revise the system. I mean their defense isn't a defense at all. Who the hell believes the crap they've said so far? I mean who is that brainwashed simple minded and UnAmerica to buy that? I mean they have even given us a BS case where the FISA court was too slow and they lost a lead. Are they that lazy or do they just not respect me enough to even lie well...
