Bernice King's speech at funeral
I saw her speech last night on Democracy Now and I'm still confused about it this morning. Can anyone tell me what she was saying? What was her point? God's message to her was that her mother dying from complications of ovarian cancer symbolized exactly what about society, and how did her death do that?

1. I took it in the context
of her having to go to Mexico for experimental treatments, because our health care system is lacking.

2. I think Bernice was trying to tie the way Coretta died to the name...
...of her mega-church, which is New Birth.

Bernice is nothing like her mother, sad to say.

I've posted about her here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=221x27385

4. There was something about re-birth, but even then the message
was very cryptic. She spewed out a long, seemingly random list of evils but never actually made a point about them.
I found the emphasized "r-e-p-o-d-u-c-t-i-v-e area" while motioning to her middle very odd. She also seemed so angry and in her own world, not like a woman mourning and honoring her mother.

Thanks for the quotes. They were very interesting.

3. Bernice comes off as a wee bit of a zealot. Speaks to God, etc. (eom)
