Lt. Col Rogers is on C-Span (WJ) discussing Dragon Skin
vs. Interceptor body armor.

He is a retired Marine from a group called Soldiers for Truth.

When asked "is it the cost" (that prevents soldiers from getting them from the DoD) "the real problem is that dragon skin ... was seen as a threat to jobs and promotions by Army acquisition".

Turn it on if you can.

1. they were given sets in 1993 to test them (DoD)
he doesn't believe the test results were accurate.

His group is calling for honest, full testing of ALL body armor.

2. She just asked "if the soldier raised the money and bought
the body armor themselves, would they be allowed to use it"

His response: "SOME units will not allow it"

How can some wear it and some not??

4. hmmm...
so if a soldier was killed wearing Dragon Skin in one unit - his wife would receive his death benefit, but in another unit, she would be denied (and vice versa for female soldiers)?

5. Whether they get paid or not depends on much higher level decisions

but I could see the making of a lawsuit here.

Soldier's Commander says its OK for him to wear Dragon Skin.
Soldier dies.
Soldier's wife is told by DOD "sorry, no death benefit"
Soldier's wife sues Army and Commander, as Commander said he could wear it.
